Magnetone

Magnatone versterkers

How we call them:

"The best amps in the world"

Magnatone amps are now available at The Fellowship of Acoustics.

Once upon a time Magnatone amps were world famous and pretty much everyone played one, from Buddy Holly to Neil Young and countless others.

History of Magnatone amps

After the Sixties Magnatone had a bit of a hard time as other amp builders like Fender, Marshall and Vox took over. But the old Magnatone amps quickly became collectors items mainly thanks to a unique tremolo/vibrato sound that has pitch shifting and stereo.

Twilighter Stereo, Super Fifteen, Varsity Reverb

In 2013, Magnatone was revived on order to make 'the best amps in the world' and now there is a complete line of Magnatone combos, tops and cabinets available, including the classic: the Twilighter Stereo.

6v6 tubes, a pitch shifting vibrato in stereo by home-made speakers, a wooden cabinet and we forget the supersexy tweed finish of the whole thing with a logo that will make you stand out on any stage or in any rehearsal room.

Clean, clean with some break up, overdriven: it's all at the tip of your fingers with a Magnatone amp. Americana players lover these amps, but if you drive a Magnatone a bit further, then even heavy rockers will get more than their money's worth. Equipped with an GZ34 tube rectifier for some extra 'feel' when you play. Also available in a mono version with one speaker.

The Varsity Reverb from Magnatone is their version of a 15 watt 'Tweed' amp, with everything you could wish for: the 12AX7 tubes in the preamp, followed with the classic EL84 do their magic along with a tube-controlled Pan Reverb. Small, but very nice (and loud!)

To complete the wide range of amplifiers, Magnatone also offers the Super series, including the Super 15 as a compact all-rounder. This series is more in the 'British' end of the spectrum, let’s say a Vox 'on steroids'. From that idea, the legendary Matchless amps were born and Magnatone also manages to make something very good even better.
