McNally J Baritone Figured Maple
McNally-gitaren zijn het resultaat van een jarenlange ontwikkeling met als doel de Ierse en Amerikaanse stijlen van gitaarbouw te combineren waarin Ciaran McNally is opgeleid. Ciaran was een student aan twee gitaarbouwopleidingen en werkte bij twee bijzonder gerenommeerde merken, en dat allemaal voor zijn 30e verjaardag. Bij Lowden en Atkin leerde hij de fijne kneepjes van het vak, maar in 2019 besloot hij op eigen benen te staan; McNally Guitars was een feit!
De basis van deze Bariton is het J-model, de full size Jumbo van McNally. Het doel van dit ontwerp was 'een OM met het formaat van een Jumbo', en die vorm is dan ook duidelijk te herkennen in het profiel van de gitaar. De lange mensuur van 27.5 inch geeft de gitaar echter een heel andere karakter, en maakt dit tot een uniek instrument.
Door het grote formaat heeft de gitaar misschien niet de directe projectie van de kleinere modellen, maar in plaats daarvan wel een dynamische respons met volle en complexe boventonen. Het grote formaat kan echter ook imponerend zijn, en de J is daarom het meest zeldzame model van McNally. Laat je echter niet misleiden, je zult verbaasd zijn hoe comfortabel deze gitaar aanvoelt!
Op het gebied van houtsoorten is de gitaar uitgerust met een klankkast van prachtig gevlamd esdoorn, aangevuld met een Sitka sparren bovenblad. Mahonie bindingen zorgen samen met de fraai gedetailleerde rozet en purfling voor een subtiele versiering, want ook de ebben toets laat de prachtige tekening van het hout voor zich spreken voor een natuurlijke uitstraling. Ook de kopplaat en brug zijn van ebben, terwijl de goudkleurige Gotoh stemmechanieken het plaatje helemaal compleet maken!
McNally heeft met deze J Baritone een gitaar weer een gitaar vol karakter en eigenzinnigheid weten te bouwen, en de gitaar is zoals we van Ciaran gewend zijn ook weer volgens de hoogste standaard gebouwd. Prachtige bijkomstigheid is dat McNally in samenwerking met Tree Nation ten minste acht bomen laat planten voor elke gebouwde gitaar, en zo de wereld per gitaar op meerdere manieren een stukje beter maakt!
De gitaar wordt met TFOA paspoort geleverd in een koffer van Hiscox.
McNally guitars are the result of years of development, aiming to combine the Irish and American guitar-making styles in which Ciaran McNally was trained. Ciaran studied at two guitar-making schools and worked for two highly reputable brands, all before his 30th birthday. He learned the tricks of the trade at Lowden and Atkin, but in 2019, he decided to strike out on his own; McNally Guitars was born!
In addition to a wide range of standard options, McNally also offers the option of customizing a guitar. For this guitar, we took advantage of this opportunity to have something truly special built. The foundation of this Baritone is the J-model, McNally's full-size Jumbo. The goal of this design was "an OM with the size of a Jumbo," and that shape is clearly recognizable in the guitar's profile. The long 27.5-inch scale length, however, gives the guitar a completely different character, making it a unique instrument.
Due to its large size, the guitar may lack the direct projection of smaller models, but instead offers a dynamic response with full and complex overtones. However, its large size can also be a bit daunting, making the J McNally's rarest model. Don't be fooled, though; you'll be amazed at how comfortable this guitar feels!
In terms of tonewoods, the guitar features a beautiful flamed maple back and sides, complemented by a Sitka spruce top. Mahogany bindings, along with the beautifully detailed rosette and purfling, provide subtle embellishment, while the ebony fingerboard also allows the wood's beautiful grain to shine through, creating a natural look. The headstock overlay and bridge are also made of ebony, while the gold-colored Gotoh tuners complete the picture!
With this J Baritone, McNally has once again created a guitar full of character and individuality, and, as we've come to expect from Ciaran, it's built to the highest standards. A wonderful bonus is that McNally, in collaboration with Tree Nation, plants at least eight trees for every guitar built, making the world a little better in more ways than one!
The guitar comes with a TFOA passport and comes in a Hiscox hardshell case.

Ciaran studierte an zwei Gitarrenbauschulen und arbeitete für zwei renommierte Marken – und das alles noch vor seinem 30. Geburtstag. Er lernte die Tricks des Handwerks bei Lowden und Atkin, doch 2019 beschloss er, sich selbstständig zu machen: McNally Guitars war geboren!
Neben einer großen Auswahl an Standardoptionen bietet McNally auch die Möglichkeit, Gitarren individuell anzupassen. Für diese Gitarre haben wir diese Gelegenheit genutzt, um etwas ganz Besonderes bauen zu lassen. Die Basis dieser Bariton ist das J-Modell, McNallys Jumbo in voller Größe. Das Ziel dieses Designs war „eine OM in Jumbo-Größe“, und diese Form ist im Profil der Gitarre deutlich erkennbar. Die lange Mensur von 27,5 Zoll verleiht der Gitarre jedoch einen völlig anderen Charakter und macht sie zu einem einzigartigen Instrument.
Aufgrund ihrer Größe fehlt der Gitarre möglicherweise die direkte Projektion kleinerer Modelle, sie bietet jedoch eine dynamische Ansprache mit vollen und komplexen Obertönen. Ihre Größe kann jedoch auch etwas abschreckend wirken, was sie zu J McNallys seltenstem Modell macht. Lassen Sie sich jedoch nicht täuschen; Sie werden erstaunt sein, wie komfortabel sich diese Gitarre anfühlt!
Was die Tonhölzer betrifft, verfügt die Gitarre über einen wunderschönen Boden und Zargen aus geflammtem Ahorn, ergänzt durch eine Decke aus Sitka-Fichte. Mahagoni-Bindings sowie die wunderschön detaillierte Rosette und Einlage sorgen für dezente Verzierungen, während das Griffbrett aus Ebenholz die schöne Maserung des Holzes durchscheinen lässt und so für ein natürliches Aussehen sorgt. Kopfplatte und Steg sind ebenfalls aus Ebenholz gefertigt, während die goldfarbenen Gotoh-Mechaniken das Bild abrunden!
Mit dieser J Baritone hat McNally erneut eine Gitarre voller Charakter und Individualität geschaffen, und wie wir es von Ciaran gewohnt sind, entspricht sie höchsten Standards. Ein toller Bonus: McNally pflanzt in Zusammenarbeit mit Tree Nation für jede gebaute Gitarre mindestens acht Bäume und trägt so in vielerlei Hinsicht zu einer besseren Welt bei!
Die Gitarre wird mit einem TFOA-Pass und einem Hiscox-Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
