Deze Gibson Les Paul Special uit 1960 is er eentje met een bijzonder verhaal! De gitaar werd gebouwd in 1960, en kreeg in het begin van de jaren '70 een compleet nieuwe hals in de Gibson-fabriek na een niet te repareren breuk bij de hiel. De finish werd perfect gematcht met de body, en ook het originele serienummer werd overgenomen op de achterzijde van de headstock. Bij deze re-neck bleven de body, de elektronica en hardware behouden. Twee originele P90's van rond de 8 K output geven je die typische sound met bite wanneer met overdrive gespeeld wordt, of juist die prachtige volle cleane sound die elke gespeelde noot goed laat klinken.
Gibson introduceerde de Les Paul Special in 1955, een jaar na de introductie van de Les Paul Junior. De gitaar was een stap hoger dan de Junior, en beschikte over twee P90 pickups in plaats van een enkel exemplaar. Het model werd echter nog steeds verkocht als studentmodel, en werd vanaf 1958 uitgevoerd met een dubbele cutaway in plaats van de enkele die sinds de introductie werd toegepast.
De gitaar beschikt over een mahonie body en hals die door middel van een gelijmde constructie aan elkaar zijn verbonden. De hals is voorzien van een stevig C-profiel, en heeft een palissander toets met 10 inch radius. De twee P90 pickups geven deze Les Paul Special zijn onvervalste rock 'n roll-imago, en maken de gitaar door zijn dubbele volume- en toonknoppen tot een veelzijdige gitaar. Op de is de naam 'Les Paul Special' niet meer te lezen, deze letters werden in de loop van 1959 niet meer geplaatst door Gibson.
Deze Les Paul Special heeft zoals eerder genoemd dus een compleet nieuwe hals gekregen, maar deze is natuurlijk ook alweer ruimschoots vintage te noemen. De speelsporen op de body en hals maken dit tot een gitaar die je zeker niet met fluwelen handschoenen hoeft aan te pakken, je kunt zonder zorgen rocken op het podium zoals het hoort met een gitaar als deze!

This 1960 Gibson Les Paul Special has a remarkable story! The guitar was built in 1960, and was given a completely new neck at the Gibson factory in the early 1970s after an irreparable break at the heel. The finish was perfectly matched to the body, and the original serial number was also applied onto the back of the headstock. With this re-neck, the body, electronics, and hardware were retained. Two original P90s with an output of around 8k give you that typical sound with bite when played with overdrive, or that beautiful, full clean sound that makes every note resonate.
Gibson introduced the Les Paul Special in 1955, a year after the introduction of the Les Paul Junior. A step up from the Junior, it featured two P90 pickups instead of a single one. However, the model was still sold as a student model, and from 1958 onward, it was equipped with a double cutaway instead of the single cutaway that had been used since its introduction.
The guitar features a mahogany body and neck, joined together using a glued construction. The neck has a sturdy C-profile and a rosewood fingerboard with a 10-inch radius. The two P90 pickups give this Les Paul Special its unadulterated rock 'n' roll image, and its dual volume and tone knobs make it a versatile instrument. The "Les Paul Special" name is no longer legible; Gibson discontinued these letters in 1959.
As mentioned earlier, this Les Paul Special has a completely new neck, but it's certainly still very vintage. The playwear on the body and neck makes this a guitar you certainly don't need to handle with kid gloves; you can rock the stage with confidence, just as it should be with a guitar like this!

Diese Gibson Les Paul Special von 1960 hat eine bemerkenswerte Geschichte! Sie wurde 1960 gebaut und erhielt Anfang der 1970er-Jahre im Gibson-Werk einen komplett neuen Hals, nachdem dieser am Halsfuß gebrochen und nicht repariert werden konnte. Die Lackierung wurde perfekt an den Korpus angepasst, und die originale Seriennummer wurde auf die Rückseite der Kopfplatte kopiert. Korpus, Elektronik und Hardware blieben bei diesem Halswechsel erhalten. Zwei originale P90-Tonabnehmer mit einer Ausgangsleistung von ca. 8 kW liefern den typischen, bissigen Sound mit Overdrive oder den wunderschönen, vollen Clean-Sound, der jede Note resonant klingen lässt.
Gibson stellte die Les Paul Special 1955 vor, ein Jahr nach der Les Paul Junior. Als Weiterentwicklung der Junior verfügte sie über zwei P90-Tonabnehmer anstelle eines einzelnen. Das Modell wurde jedoch weiterhin als Einsteigermodell verkauft und ab 1958 mit einem Double-Cutaway anstelle des seit der Markteinführung üblichen Single-Cutaways ausgestattet.
Die Gitarre besitzt einen Mahagonikorpus und -hals, die verleimt sind. Der Hals hat ein robustes C-Profil und ein Palisandergriffbrett mit einem Radius von 10 Zoll. Die beiden P90-Tonabnehmer verleihen dieser Les Paul Special ihren unverfälschten Rock-'n'-Roll-Sound, und die beiden Lautstärke- und Tonregler machen sie zu einem vielseitigen Instrument. Der Name „Les Paul Special“ ist nicht mehr lesbar; Gibson hat diese Bezeichnung 1959 eingestellt.
Wie bereits erwähnt, hat diese Les Paul Special einen komplett neuen Hals, ist aber dennoch sehr vintage. Die Gebrauchsspuren an Korpus und Hals zeigen, dass diese Gitarre nicht mit Samthandschuhen angefasst werden muss; mit so einem Instrument kann man die Bühne mit Selbstvertrauen rocken!
Sie wird mit einem TFOA-Pass und in einem modernen Gibson-Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
