Nearly 40 years ago, the Lakewood trademark was born. Martin Seeliger, owner and experienced guitar maker, found the name on a map near Lake Erie and made it his brand name; the first cornerstone was laid.

Gitaren van Lakewood passeren tot onze vreugde regelmatig de revue bij The Fellowship of Acoustics, maar bij deze ingeruilde D1 moesten we toch even twee keer knipperen met onze ogen. Het serienummer 11591 wijst op een gitaar uit het bouwjaar 2000, en dat maakt deze Lakewood tot een gitaar van een kwart eeuw oud. De gitaar ziet er qua uiterlijk echter nog zo goed uit dat we dat bijna niet kunnen geloven!
Deze dreadnought heeft mahoniehouten achter- en zijkanten en een Engelmann sparrenhouten bovenblad, fraai omrand met een tortoise binding. Het vakmanschap van de Lakewood gitaarbouwers komt niet alleen tot uiting in de onberispelijke afwerking, maar vooral in de klank: een diepe, warme klank, vol resonantie, met prachtige boventonen en veel headroom.
Op het bovenblad en de achterzijde van de hals zijn lichte speelsporen te vinden, maar de gitaar is verder nog uitzonderlijk schoon. De gitaar wordt met TFOA paspoort geleverd in een Lakewood gigbag.
To our delight, Lakewood guitars regularly pass by The Fellowship of Acoustics, but this traded-in D1 made us blink twice. The serial number 11591 indicates a guitar from the year 2000, which makes this Lakewood a guitar that is a quarter of a century old. However, the guitar still looks so good in terms of appearance that we can hardly believe it!
This dreadnought has mahogany back and sides and an Engelmann spruce top, beautifully bordered with a tortoise binding. The craftsmanship of the Lakewood guitar builders is not only reflected in the impeccable finish, but especially in the sound: a deep, warm sound, full of resonance, with beautiful overtones and plenty of headroom.
There are light playing marks on the top and the back of the neck, but the guitar is otherwise exceptionally clean. The guitar comes with a TFOA passport in a Lakewood gig bag.
Zu unserer Freude finden Lakewood-Gitarren regelmäßig bei der Fellowship of Acoustics ihren Weg, doch diese eingetauschte D1 ließ uns zweimal blinzeln. Die Seriennummer 11591 weist auf eine Gitarre aus dem Jahr 2000 hin, was diese Lakewood zu einer 25 Jahre alten Gitarre macht. Optisch sieht die Gitarre jedoch immer noch so gut aus, dass wir es kaum glauben können!
Diese Dreadnought hat Boden und Zargen aus Mahagoni und eine Decke aus Engelmann-Fichte, wunderschön eingefasst mit einem Schildpatt-Binding. Die Handwerkskunst der Lakewood-Gitarrenbauer spiegelt sich nicht nur in der makellosen Lackierung wider, sondern vor allem im Klang: ein tiefer, warmer, resonanzreicher Klang mit wunderschönen Obertönen und viel Headroom.
Ober- und Halsrückseite weisen leichte Spielspuren auf, ansonsten ist die Gitarre aber außergewöhnlich sauber. Die Gitarre wird mit einem TFOA-Pass in einer Lakewood-Gigbag geliefert.
