Epiphone Zenith 1939
De Epiphone Zenith werd in 1931 gelanceerd als antwoord van Epiphone op de vraag naar een betaalbare, hoogwaardige archtopgitaar. Het model werd een favoriet onder professionele muzikanten en is nog steeds een van de meest gewaardeerde gitaren uit deze periode. Deze Zenith uit 1939 heeft de verfijnde specificaties die vanaf 1934 standaard waren, met name de walnotenhouten achterkant en zijkanten en de karakteristieke inleg in de kop, een detail dat het model direct herkenbaar maakt.
De walnotenhouten achterkant en zijkanten waren een bewuste keuze van Epiphone, waarmee het zich onderscheidde van andere fabrikanten. Walnotenhout biedt een warme, zachte klank met voldoende body en sustain voor zowel ritme- als leadspel. The Epiphone Zenith was launched in 1931 as Epiphone's answer to the demand for an affordable, high-quality archtop. The model became a favorite among professional musicians and remains one of the most respected guitars from this period. This 1939 Zenith features the refined specifications that were standard from 1934 onward, particularly the walnut back and sides and the characteristic stickpin inlay on the headstock, a detail that makes the model instantly recognizable.
The walnut back and sides were a deliberate choice by Epiphone, which distinguished itself from other manufacturers by using this wood. Walnut offers a warm, mellow tone with sufficient body and sustain for both rhythm and lead playing. Combined with the two-piece carved spruce top and the three-piece mahogany/maple neck, this instrument delivers a tone that is fuller and more direct than many of its American competitors. The V-shaped neck and rosewood fingerboard with Mother of Pearl dot inlays give this guitar its classic elegance, while the Grover tuners and adjustable rosewood bridge keep everything in place.

Die Epiphone Zenith wurde 1931 als Epiphones Antwort auf die Nachfrage nach einer erschwinglichen, hochwertigen Archtop-Gitarre auf den Markt gebracht. Das Modell wurde schnell zum Favoriten professioneller Musiker und zählt bis heute zu den angesehensten Gitarren dieser Zeit. Diese Zenith von 1939 zeichnet sich durch die verfeinerten Spezifikationen aus, die ab 1934 Standard waren, insbesondere durch den Korpus aus Walnussholz und die charakteristische Stickpin-Einlage auf der Kopfplatte – ein Detail, das das Modell sofort erkennbar macht.
Die Wahl von Boden und Zargen aus Walnussholz war eine bewusste Entscheidung von Epiphone, um sich von anderen Herstellern abzuheben.
