The H13 is based on the legendary Gibson "Nick Lucas Special" from the 1920s and 1930s. Santa Cruz Guitar Company's interpretation of this beautiful instrument responds to player demand for this traditionally beautiful-sounding guitar. This 13-fret's ability to achieve surprisingly high volume and presence in this instrument gives the H13 a strong position in the repertoire of today's guitarists.

Het prototype voor de "H" werd gebouwd in opdracht van Maestro Paul Hostetter in 1978. De "13" refereert simpelweg naar de 13-frets hals, een opvallend zeldzaam voorkomend fenomeen. Wat SCGC met de H13 wilde bereiken, is een vermogen dat verder gaat dan wat je van zo'n kleine gitaar zou verwachten. Om dit mogelijk te maken, heeft de gitaar een langere snaarlengte en een grotere diepte in de body. Om de brug in een optimale positie te plaatsen en tegelijkertijd de langere snaarlengte te behouden, moest de hals bij de 13e fret aan de body vastzitten.
De klankkast is gebouwd van mahoniehout en is gepaard met een Sitka sparren bovenblad met Sunburst finish, dat ondersteund wordt door een 'scalloped' X-bracing. Dit leidt tot een klank die nog krachtiger is dan het origineel, maar hem ook veel dynamischer en delicater maakt. Ook op het gebied van versiering heeft Santa Cruz iets moois in petto; een prachtige S29-stijl herringbone purfling en backstrip sieren de gitaar, samen met ivoroid bindingen op zowel de body als hals.
Deze Santa Cruz H13 is gebouwd in 2015, en heeft wat lichte speelsporen en enkele kleine dings op het bovenblad, met daarbij ook zeer lichte speelsporen op de klankkast en de slagplaat. De gitaar ziet er verder zeer netjes uit, en wordt met TFOA paspoort geleverd in een Ameritage koffer.
The prototype for the "H" was commissioned by Maestro Paul Hostetter in 1978. The "13" simply refers to the 13-fret neck, a remarkably rare phenomenon. What SCGC wanted to achieve with the H13 was a power beyond what one might expect from such a small guitar. To achieve this, the guitar has a longer string length and a greater depth in the body. To place the bridge in an optimal position while maintaining the longer string length, the neck had to be attached to the body at the 13th fret.
The back and sides are made of mahogany and are paired with a Sitka spruce top in a sunburst finish, supported by scalloped X-bracing. This results in a tone that is even more powerful than the original, but also makes it much more dynamic and delicate. Santa Cruz also has something beautiful in store when it comes to ornamentation; A beautiful S29-style herringbone purfling and back strip adorn the guitar, along with ivoroid bindings on both the body and neck.
This Santa Cruz H13 was built in 2015 and has some light playwear and a few minor dings on the top, along with very light playwear on the backside and pickguard. The guitar is otherwise in very good condition and comes with a TFOA passport in an Ameritage hardshell case.

Santa Cruz wollte mit der H13 eine Klangkraft erreichen, die man von einer so kleinen Gitarre nicht erwarten würde. Um die Brücke optimal zu positionieren und gleichzeitig die längere Saitenlänge beizubehalten, musste der Hals am 13. Bund mit dem Korpus verbunden werden.
Boden und Zargen sind aus Mahagoni gefertigt und werden mit einer Sitka-Fichtendecke in Sunburst-Lackierung kombiniert, die von einer geschwungenen X-Verstrebung getragen wird. Das Ergebnis ist ein noch kraftvollerer, aber gleichzeitig dynamischerer und feinerer Klang als beim Original. Auch in puncto Verzierung hat Santa Cruz einiges zu bieten: Ein wunderschönes Fischgrätenmuster auf der Rückseite im S29-Stil ziert die Gitarre, ebenso wie die Bindings aus Elfenbeinimitat an Korpus und Hals.
Diese Santa Cruz H13 wurde 2015 gebaut und weist leichte Gebrauchsspuren sowie einige kleinere Dellen auf der Decke auf. Auch die Rückseite und das Schlagbrett zeigen nur sehr leichte Gebrauchsspuren. Ansonsten ist die Gitarre in sehr gutem Zustand und wird mit einem TFOA-Pass in einem Ameritage-Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
