Dit model ontstond nadat Catfish's eerdere custom mahonie O-model zoveel enthousiasme teweegbracht dat fans bleven vragen naar "die kleine gitaar met de gigantische stem". Na Catfish's optreden tijdens Santa Cruz's 40-jarig jubileum werd duidelijk dat een signature versie van dit aangepaste 1929 O-model een geweldige toevoeging zou zijn aan het SCGC-assortiment.
Deze 12-fret gitaar combineert een gevlamd mahonie body met een bijpassend gevlamd mahonie bovenblad, afgewerkt in een schitterende sunburst die de natuurlijke figuur van het hout prachtig accentueert. De elegante details zoals de ivoroid/tortoise/ivoroid rozet, ivoroid binding en V-vormige hals creëren een vintage uitstraling die perfect aansluit bij de bluesy ziel van dit instrument. Met een schaallengte van 24.75" en een comfortabele halsbreedte van 1-3/4" bij de topkam biedt deze gitaar een speelervaring die zowel vertrouwd als inspirerend is.
Klanktechnisch levert deze kleine gitaar precies wat de bijnaam belooft: een verrassend grote, volle stem met de warme, directe respons die kenmerkend is voor mahonie constructies. De scalloped bracing zorgt voor optimale resonantie, terwijl de Waverly Nickel stemmechanieken met ebbenhouten knoppen en de bone zadel en brugpinnen de toon zuiver houden. De Catfish Special wordt geleverd in een koffer van TKL.
This model was born after Catfish’s earlier custom mahogany O-model generated so much excitement that fans kept asking for “that little guitar with the giant voice.” After Catfish’s performance at Santa Cruz’s 40th anniversary, it became clear that a signature version of this custom 1929 O-model would be a great addition to the SCGC lineup.
This 12-fret guitar combines a flamed mahogany body with a matching flamed mahogany top, finished in a beautiful sunburst that beautifully accentuates the natural figure of the wood. Elegant details such as the ivoroid/tortoise/ivoroid rosette, ivoroid binding and V-shaped neck create a vintage look that perfectly matches the bluesy soul of this instrument. With a scale length of 24.75” and a comfortable 1-3/4” nut width, this guitar offers a playing experience that is both familiar and inspiring.
Tonally, this little guitar delivers exactly what its nickname promises: a surprisingly big, full voice with the warm, direct response that is characteristic of mahogany construction. The scalloped bracing ensures optimum resonance, while the Waverly Nickel tuners with ebony buttons and the bone saddle and bridge pins keep the tone pure. The Catfish Special comes in a TKL hardshell case.

Diese 12-Bund-Gitarre kombiniert einen Korpus aus geflammtem Mahagoni mit einer dazu passenden Decke aus geflammtem Mahagoni. Das Finish ist in einem wunderschönen Sunburst gehalten, der die natürliche Maserung des Holzes wunderbar betont. Elegante Details wie die Rosette aus Ivoroid/Schildpatt/Ivoroid, das Ivoroid-Binding und der V-förmige Hals sorgen für einen Vintage-Look, der perfekt zum bluesigen Charakter dieses Instruments passt. Mit einer Mensur von 63 cm und einer komfortablen Sattelbreite von 4,8 cm bietet diese Gitarre ein vertrautes und inspirierendes Spielerlebnis.
Klanglich hält diese kleine Gitarre genau, was ihr Name verspricht: einen überraschend großen, vollen Klang mit der für Mahagoni-Konstruktionen typischen warmen, direkten Ansprache. Die Scalloped-Verstrebung sorgt für optimale Resonanz, während die Waverly Nickel-Mechaniken mit Ebenholzknöpfen sowie die Steg- und Stegstifte aus Knochen den reinen Klang bewahren. Die Catfish Special wird in einem TKL-Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
