Santa Cruz H13 Moon Spruce Custom 2024

​De H13 is gebaseerd op de legendarische Gibson 'Nick Lucas Special' uit de jaren 20 en 30. Het prototype voor de "H" werd gebouwd in opdracht van Maestro Paul Hostetter in 1978. De "13" refereert simpelweg naar de 13-frets hals, een opvallend zeldzaam voorkomend fenomeen. Wat SCGC met de H13 wilde bereiken, is een vermogen dat verder gaat dan wat je van zo'n kleine gitaar zou verwachten. Om dit mogelijk te maken, heeft de gitaar een langere snaarlengte en een grotere diepte in de body. Om de brug in een optimale positie te plaatsen en tegelijkertijd de langere snaarlengte te behouden, moest de hals bij de 13e fret aan de body vastzitten.  

De H13 werd de blauwdruk voor deze Custom Santa Cruz. De klankkast is gebouwd van mahoniehout en is gepaard met een Moon sparren bovenblad dat ondersteund wordt door een 'scalloped' X-brace die verlijmd is met 'hot hide glue'. Dit leidt tot een klank die nog krachtiger is dan het origineel, maar hem ook veel dynamischer en delicater maakt. De interpretatie van Santa Cruz Guitar Company van dit prachtige instrument is een antwoord op de vraag van spelers naar deze traditioneel prachtig klinkende gitaar. Het vermogen van deze 13 fret om een verrassend hoog volume en presence te bereiken in een dit instrument geeft de H13 een sterke positie in het repertoire van de hedendaagse gitarist. 

Deze Santa Cruz is in 2024 gebouwd, en verkeert nog in nieuwstaat. De gitaar wordt met TFOA paspoort geleverd in een koffer van Ameritage.

​The H13 is based on the legendary Gibson 'Nick Lucas Special' from the 1920s and 30s. The prototype for the "H" was built by order of Maestro Paul Hostetter in 1978. The "13" simply refers to the 13-fret neck, a remarkably rare occurrence. What SCGC wanted to achieve with the H13 is a power beyond what you would expect from such a small guitar. To make this possible, the guitar has a longer string length and a greater depth in the body. In order to place the bridge in an optimal position while maintaining the longer string length, the neck had to be attached to the body at the 13th fret.


The H13 became the blueprint for this Custom Santa Cruz. The back and sides are constructed from mahogany and are paired with a Moon spruce top supported by a scalloped X-brace glued together with hot hide glue. This results in a sound that is even more powerful than the original, but also makes it much more dynamic and delicate. Santa Cruz Guitar Company's interpretation of this beautiful instrument is a response to the demand from players for this traditionally beautiful sounding guitar. This Santa Cruz was built in 2024, and is still in mint condition. The guitar comes with a TFOA passport in an Ameritage hardshell case.

Die H13 basiert auf der legendären Gibson „Nick Lucas Special“ aus den 1920er und 1930er Jahren. Der Prototyp der „H“ wurde 1978 im Auftrag von Maestro Paul Hostetter gebaut. Die „13“ steht für den 13-bündigen Hals, eine bemerkenswerte Seltenheit. SCGC wollte mit der H13 eine Klangqualität erreichen, die über das hinausgeht, was man von einer so kleinen Gitarre erwarten würde. Um dies zu ermöglichen, verfügt die Gitarre über eine längere Saitenlänge und einen tieferen Korpus. Um den Steg optimal zu positionieren und gleichzeitig die längere Saitenlänge beizubehalten, musste der Hals am 13. Bund mit dem Korpus verbunden werden.


Die H13 diente als Vorlage für diese Custom Santa Cruz. Boden und Zargen bestehen aus Mahagoni und werden mit einer Mondfichtendecke kombiniert, die von einer gewellten, mit heißem Hautleim verleimten X-Verstrebung getragen wird. Das Ergebnis ist ein Klang, der noch kraftvoller als beim Original ist, aber auch deutlich dynamischer und feiner. Die Interpretation dieses wunderschönen Instruments durch die Santa Cruz Guitar Company ist eine Antwort auf die Nachfrage der Gitarristen nach dieser traditionell schön klingenden Gitarre. Die Fähigkeit dieses 13-Bund-Gitarrenspiels, ein überraschend hohes Volumen und eine hohe Präsenz zu erreichen, verleiht der H13 eine starke Position im Repertoire des modernen Gitarristen.


Diese Santa Cruz wurde 2024 gebaut und befindet sich noch immer in neuwertigem Zustand. Die Gitarre wird mit einem TFOA-Pass in einem Ameritage-Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
