De stem van Johnny Cash is direct herkenbaar met een diep bariton-achtig timbre. En net zo herkenbaar is zijn geliefde zwarte Martin D35. Toen Johnny overleed in 2003 verloor Country muziek een van zijn originele rebellen. Het verhaal hoe de zwarte D35 ontstond toont aan hoe bijzonder Johnny Cash eigenlijk was.
De allereerste zwarte Martin gitaar ooit werd gebouwd op verzoek van Johnny, maar zonder de toestemming van C.F. Martin III omdat hij absoluut geen zwarte Martin wilde bouwen. Martin's president kwam er pas achter dat de gitaar was gebouwd toen hij Johnny ermee zag spelen. Die D35 werd Johnny's favoriete gitaar en zijn beste vriend op het podium.
De Johnny Cash D35 is een buitengewoon zeldzame gitaar, die je maar af en toe ziet. Hij klinkt en speelt echt net zo geweldig als hij eruit ziet. Naast de palissander klankkast en Engelmann sparren bovenblad is deze gitaar voorzien van een ebbenhouten toets met ster en 'Johnny Cash' inleg, een abalone rozet en het label aan de binnenkant is gesigneerd door de zoon van Johnny, John Carter Cash en C.F. Martin IV. Dit is een Martin die net zo onderscheidend is als zijn originele eigenaar. Johnny Cash was- en is een legende, en dit is je kans om exact dezelfde soort gitaar te bespelen.
De gitaar is gebouwd in 2021, en verkeert in excellente conditie. Op het bovenblad bevinden zich enkele dings, en de slagplaat heeft lichte krasjes. Op de achterzijde van de klankkast zijn zeer minimale speelsporen te vinden, en bij de heelcap bevinden zich wat lijmresten. Tenslotte is ook het brugzadel vervangen. De gitaar is verder echter zeer schoon en wordt met TFOA paspoort geleverd in de originele geheel zwarte TKL-koffer.

The very first black Martin guitar was built at Johnny's request, but without the permission of C.F. Martin III because he absolutely refused to build a black Martin. Martin's president only discovered the guitar had been built when he saw Johnny play it. That D35 became Johnny's favorite guitar and his best friend on stage.

Besides the rosewood back and sides and Engelmann spruce top, this guitar features an ebony fingerboard with a star and "Johnny Cash" inlay, an abalone rosette, and the inside label signed by Johnny's son, John Carter Cash, and C.F. The guitar was built in 2021 and is in excellent condition. There are a few dings on the top, and the pickguard has light scratches. Very minimal playwear can be found on the back of the body, and there is some glue residue near the heel cap. Finally, the bridge saddle has also been replaced. Otherwise, the guitar is very clean and comes with a TFOA passport in its original all-black TKL hardshell case.

Der Präsident von Martin erfuhr erst von der Gitarre, als er Johnny damit spielen sah. Diese D-35 wurde Johnnys Lieblingsgitarre und sein treuer Begleiter auf der Bühne.
Die Johnny Cash D-35 ist eine extrem seltene Gitarre, die man nur gelegentlich zu Gesicht bekommt. Sie klingt und spielt sich so fantastisch, wie sie aussieht. Neben dem Korpus aus Palisander und der Engelmann-Fichtendecke verfügt diese Gitarre über ein Ebenholzgriffbrett mit Stern- und „Johnny Cash“-Inlay, eine Abalone-Rosette und ein von Johnny Cashs Sohn, John Carter Cash, und C.F. Martin IV. signiertes Etikett im Inneren. Diese Martin-Gitarre ist so unverwechselbar wie ihr Erstbesitzer. Johnny Cash war und ist eine Legende, und hier haben Sie die Chance, genau diese Gitarre zu spielen.
Die Gitarre wurde 2021 gebaut und ist in exzellentem Zustand. Die Decke weist einige wenige kleine Dellen auf, und das Schlagbrett hat leichte Kratzer. Auf der Rückseite des Korpus sind nur minimale Spielspuren zu erkennen, und in der Nähe des Halsfußes befinden sich Klebereste. Der Steg wurde zudem erneuert. Ansonsten ist die Gitarre sehr gepflegt und wird mit einem TFOA-Pass im originalen, komplett schwarzen TKL-Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
