The Martin D76 Bicentennial Commemorative is an even more elaborately decorated version of the Martin D35, which is already a striking guitar. Martin built 1976 of this model, and this guitar is number 1553 of this limited edition.

De Martin D76 Bicentennial Commemorative werd in 1976 gebouwd ter gelegenheid van het tweehonderdjarig bestaan van de Verenigde Staten en neemt binnen het oeuvre van C.F. Martin een bijzondere plaats in. Dit model combineert de vertrouwde dreadnought-bodyvorm van de D35 met uitgesproken herdenkingsdetails, waaronder een speciale Bicentennial plaquette op het hielblok en decoratieve accenten op de toets en headstock in de vorm van 13 sterren en een adelaar.
Tegelijk bleef Martin trouw aan zijn traditionele bouwwijze, met een massief sparren bovenblad en palissander voor zij- en achterkant, wat resulteert in de krachtige, open klank die dit type zo geliefd maakt. De D76 is daarmee niet alleen een muzikaal volwaardig instrument, maar ook een tijdsdocument dat de historische context van de jaren zeventig verbindt met Martins lange ambachtelijke traditie.
De gitaar verkeert na bijna een halve eeuw nog in excellente conditie, en heeft speelsporen en dings op het bovenblad, de klankkast en de achterzijde van de hals. De welbekende pickguard crack is gerepareerd met een cleat aan de binnenzijde van de klankkast. Ook heeft de gitaar een neck reset gehad, en het brugzadel en de brugpinnen zijn vervangen. De lak van de gitaar glanst prachtig, net als de frets. Deze Martin D76 speelt en klinkt daarbij prachtig, en is een zeer inspirerende gitaar. Een vintage Martin in optima forma!

The Martin D76 Bicentennial Commemorative was built in 1976 to commemorate the bicentennial of the United States and holds a special place in C.F. Martin's oeuvre. This model combines the familiar dreadnought body shape of the D35 with distinctive commemorative details, including a special Bicentennial plaque on the heel block and decorative accents on the fingerboard and headstock in the form of 13 stars and an eagle.
At the same time, Martin remained true to its traditional construction method, with a solid spruce top and rosewood back and sides, resulting in the powerful, open tone that makes this type so beloved. The D76 is therefore not only a musically accomplished instrument but also a historical document that connects the historical context of the 1970s with Martin's long tradition of craftsmanship.
After nearly half a century, the guitar remains in excellent condition and has playwear and dings on the top, back and sides, and neck. The well-known pickguard crack has been repaired with a cleat on the inside of the body. The guitar has also had a neck reset, and the bridge saddle and pins have been replaced. The finish shines beautifully, as do the frets. This Martin D76 plays and sounds wonderful, and is a truly inspiring guitar. A vintage Martin in its finest form!

Die Martin D76 Bicentennial Commemorative wurde 1976 zum 200-jährigen Jubiläum der Vereinigten Staaten gebaut und nimmt einen besonderen Platz im Schaffen von C.F. Martin ein. Dieses Modell vereint die bekannte Dreadnought-Korpusform der D35 mit markanten Jubiläumsdetails, darunter eine spezielle Jubiläumsplakette am Halsfuß und dekorative Akzente in Form von 13 Sternen und einem Adler auf Griffbrett und Kopfplatte.
Gleichzeitig blieb Martin seiner traditionellen Bauweise treu: Die massive Fichtendecke und der Korpus aus Palisander sorgten für den kraftvollen, offenen Klang, der diesen Gitarrentyp so beliebt macht. Die D76 ist somit nicht nur ein musikalisch herausragendes Instrument, sondern auch ein historisches Dokument, das den historischen Kontext der 1970er-Jahre mit Martins langer Tradition handwerklicher Kunst verbindet.
Nach fast einem halben Jahrhundert befindet sich die Gitarre in exzellentem Zustand und weist lediglich Spielspuren und kleinere Gebrauchsspuren an Decke, Boden, Zargen und Hals auf. Der bekannte „Pickguard Crack“ wurde mit einer Leiste an der Innenseite des Resonanzkörpers repariert. Die Gitarre wurde neu eingestellt, und Steg und Stegstecker wurden erneuert. Lack und Bünde glänzen wunderschön. Diese Martin D76 spielt und klingt fantastisch und ist eine wahrhaft inspirierende Gitarre. Eine Vintage-Martin in Bestform!
