De doubleneck gitaar kent zijn oorsprong in de late jaren '50, toen Gibson de eerste experimenten deed met meerdere halzen op één body. De EDS-1275 zoals we die nu kennen verscheen in 1963 als opvolger van de eerder holle EDS-1275 Double 12, nu met een solide mahonie body in het kenmerkende SG-silhouet. Het model werd aanvankelijk slechts in kleine aantallen verkocht, tot Jimmy Page de gitaar in 1971 oppakte voor de legendarische live-uitvoeringen van "Stairway to Heaven". Plots was de doubleneck niet langer een curiositeit maar een rockicoon. Don Felder volgde met "Hotel California", en generaties later hield ook onder meer Slash de traditie in ere.
Deze EDS-1275 uit 1974 stamt uit de periode waarin Gibson het model in Walnut-finish aanbood, een subtiele en elegante afwerking die minder vaak voorkomt dan de klassieke Cherry Red. De gitaar verkeert in excellente staat voor zijn leeftijd; de speelsporen zijn relatief licht en geven het instrument karakter zonder afbreuk te doen aan de algehele presentatie. De originele Gibson Patent Number humbuckers zijn nog aanwezig en leveren die dikke, volle toon die dit model zo geliefd maakt.
De elektronica werkt momenteel als volgt: De bovenste volume- en toonknoppen bedienen de 12-snarige hals, de onderste knoppen doen dit voor de 6-snarige hals. De zwarte schakelaar tussen de bruggen werkt als reguliere pickupschakelaar voor beide halzen, terwijl de witte schakelaar op de hoorn van de body schakelt tussen de beide halzen, of ze juist tegelijk activeert zodat je met twee personen tegelijk kunt spelen voor de ultieme show op het podium!
Met de combinatie van een 6- en 12-snarige hals biedt deze gitaar een enorme muzikale veelzijdigheid. De 12-string hals voegt die karakteristieke shimmer toe aan akkoorden en arpeggio's, terwijl de 6-string hals klaarstaat voor krachtige riffs en solo's. Beide halzen hebben een comfortabel C-profiel en een palissander toets met de klassieke split parallelogram inlays.
Een doubleneck van dit kaliber en in deze conditie is een zeldzaamheid. Wie droomt van dat iconische silhouet op het podium, dit is je kans! De gitaar wordt met TFOA-paspoort geleverd in een hardshell koffer.
The double-neck guitar originated in the late 1950s, when Gibson first experimented with multiple necks on a single body. The EDS-1275 as we know it today appeared in 1963 as the successor to the previously hollow EDS-1275 Double 12, now with a solid mahogany body in the characteristic SG silhouette. The model initially sold only in small numbers, until Jimmy Page picked it up in 1971 for the legendary live performances of "Stairway to Heaven." Suddenly, the double-neck was no longer a curiosity but a rock icon. Don Felder followed suit with "Hotel California," and generations later, Slash, among others, also kept the tradition alive.
This 1974 EDS-1275 dates back to the period when Gibson offered the model in a Walnut finish, a subtle and elegant finish less common than the classic Cherry Red. The guitar is in excellent condition for its age; the playwear is relatively light and adds character to the instrument without detracting from its overall presentation. The original Gibson Patent Number humbuckers are still present and deliver that thick, full tone that makes this model so beloved.
The electronics currently work as follows: The upper volume and tone knobs control the 12-string neck, while the lower knobs control the 6-string neck. The black switch between the bridges functions as a regular pickup switch for both necks, while the white switch on the horn of the body switches between both necks, or activates them simultaneously, allowing two people to play simultaneously for the ultimate stage show!
With its combination of a 6- and 12-string neck, this guitar offers enormous musical versatility. The 12-string neck adds that characteristic shimmer to chords and arpeggios, while the 6-string neck is ready for powerful riffs and solos. Both necks have a comfortable C-profile and a rosewood fingerboard with classic split parallelogram inlays.

Die Elektronik funktioniert wie folgt: Die oberen Lautstärke- und Tonregler steuern den 12-saitigen Hals, die unteren den 6-saitigen. Der schwarze Schalter zwischen den Stegen dient als normaler Tonabnehmerschalter für beide Hälse, während der weiße Schalter am Korpushorn zwischen beiden Hälsen umschaltet oder sie gleichzeitig aktiviert. So können zwei Personen gleichzeitig spielen – perfekt für die Bühne!
Dank der Kombination aus 6- und 12-saitigem Hals bietet diese Gitarre enorme musikalische Vielseitigkeit. Der 12-saitige Hals verleiht Akkorden und Arpeggien den charakteristischen Glanz, während der 6-saitige Hals für kraftvolle Riffs und Soli bestens geeignet ist.
