Martin D45 Brazilian Rosewood 1994

De eerste D45 werd gebouwd in de jaren '30 van de vorige eeuw en het is nog steeds een van de meest opvallende en indrukwekkende modellen die Martin maakt. Het topmodel van Martin heeft met de hand ingelegde abalone op het bovenblad, achterblad, zijkanten en zelfs langs de hiel. Deze dreadnought maakt daarnaast gebruik van een bijna onovertroffen combinatie van toonhoutsoorten; Braziliaans palissander voor de achter- en zijkanten en een Sitka sparren bovenblad. Hij klinkt hierdoor ronduit indrukwekkend!

Het Braziliaans palissander is naast zijn visuele pracht ook op klankgebied een van de meest geliefde houtsoorten voor gitaren. De toon heeft een verbazingwekkend spectrum aan dynamiek, met volle lage tonen, vloeiende middentonen en briljante hoge tonen, vermengd met de gefocuste en warmere respons van Sitka sparren die precies de juiste hoeveelheid boventonen doorlaat. Zowel de fingerstyle speler als de bluegrass speler zal zich er thuis op voelen.

Deze D45 is inmiddels 37 jaar oud, en de gitaar verkeert in zeer goede conditie. Opvallend is dat er tussen het uiteinde van de hals en het klankgat een crack is gerepareerd, en hierbij is aan de binnenzijde van de klankkast de aangrenzende bracing opnieuw gelijmd. Ook is de binding op het uiteinde van de toets vervangen bij deze reparatie. Ook vertoont de lak her en der oppervlakkige hairlines; deze zijn op het bovenblad te vinden bij de hoeken van de brug, achter de brug en bij de taille aan de baszijde, en op de voor- en achterzijde van de headstock tussen de tuners.

De binding op de bovenzijde van de headstock heeft twee kleine scheurtjes, en op de zijkant van headstock vinden we zeer kleine hairlines in de lak langs de binding. Tevens is de lak aan de zijkanten van de topkam verkleurd, vermoedelijk door een standaard of wandhanger. De gitaar is op het moment goed bespeelbaar, maar gezien de halshoek is een neck reset in de nabije toekomst niet uit te sluiten. Het zijn de tekenen van de inmiddels behoorlijk gevorderde leeftijd van deze gitaar, die desalniettemin bijzonder schoon is. Deze D45 is met zijn prachtige klank en verschijning een absolute verrijking van de collectie van elke verzamelaar én de gitarist die alleen maar het allerbeste wil!

Consignatie.

The first D45 was built in the 1930s, and it remains one of Martin's most striking and impressive models. Martin's top-of-the-line model features hand-inlaid abalone on the top, back, sides, and even along the heel. This dreadnought also uses a nearly unmatched combination of tonewoods: Brazilian rosewood for the back and sides and a Sitka spruce top. Its sound is truly impressive!

Aside from its visual beauty, Brazilian rosewood is also one of the most beloved guitar woods for tonal expression. Its tone offers an astonishing spectrum of dynamics, with full lows, smooth mids, and brilliant highs, blended with the focused and warmer response of Sitka spruce, which allows just the right amount of overtones to shine through. Both fingerstyle and bluegrass players will feel at home on it.

This D45 is now 37 years old and is in excellent condition. It's striking that a crack has been repaired between the end of the neck and the soundhole, and the adjacent bracing on the inside of the soundboard has been reglued. The binding on the end of the fingerboard was also replaced during this repair. The finish also shows some superficial hairlines here and there; these can be found on the top at the corners of the bridge, behind the bridge, and at the waist on the bass side, and on the front and back of the headstock between the tuners.

The binding on the top of the headstock has two small cracks, and on the side of the headstock, we find very small hairlines in the finish along the binding. The finish on the sides of the nut has also discolored, presumably due to a stand or wall hanging. The guitar is currently playable, but given the neck angle, a neck reset in the near future cannot be ruled out. These are signs of the guitar's now quite advanced age, which is nevertheless exceptionally beautiful. With its beautiful sound and appearance, this D45 is an absolute asset to the collection of any collector and guitarist who only wants the very best!

Consignment.

Die erste D45 wurde in den 1930er Jahren gebaut und ist bis heute eines der markantesten und beeindruckendsten Modelle von Martin. Martins Spitzenmodell besticht durch handeingelegte Abalone-Holzeinlagen an Decke, Boden, Zargen und sogar am Hals. Diese Dreadnought verwendet außerdem eine nahezu unübertroffene Tonholzkombination: Rio-Palisander für Boden und Zargen und eine Sitka-Fichtendecke. Ihr Klang ist wahrhaft beeindruckend!

Rio-Palisander ist nicht nur optisch ansprechend, sondern auch wegen seines klanglichen Ausdrucks eines der beliebtesten Gitarrenhölzer. Sein Klang bietet ein erstaunliches dynamisches Spektrum mit vollen Tiefen, weichen Mitten und brillanten Höhen, gepaart mit der fokussierten und wärmeren Ansprache der Sitka-Fichte, die genau die richtige Menge an Obertönen durchscheinen lässt. Sowohl Fingerstyle- als auch Bluegrass-Spieler werden sich auf ihr wohlfühlen.

Diese D45 ist mittlerweile 37 Jahre alt und befindet sich in ausgezeichnetem Zustand. Auffällig ist, dass ein Riss zwischen Halsende und Schallloch repariert und die angrenzende Beleistung an der Innenseite der Decke neu verleimt wurde. Im Zuge dieser Reparatur wurde auch das Binding am Griffbrettende ersetzt. Die Lackierung weist vereinzelt oberflächliche Haarrisse auf; diese finden sich oben an den Ecken des Stegs, hinter dem Steg, in der Mitte auf der Bassseite sowie vorne und hinten an der Kopfplatte zwischen den Mechaniken.

Das Binding an der Oberseite der Kopfplatte weist zwei kleine Risse auf, und seitlich an der Kopfplatte finden wir entlang des Bindings sehr kleine Haarrisse im Lack. Auch die Lackierung an den Seiten des Sattels hat sich verfärbt, vermutlich durch einen Ständer oder die Wandmontage. Die Gitarre ist derzeit spielbar, aufgrund des Halswinkels ist jedoch eine Halsneupositionierung in naher Zukunft nicht auszuschließen. Dies sind Zeichen des mittlerweile recht hohen Alters der Gitarre, die dennoch außergewöhnlich schön ist. Mit ihrem wunderschönen Klang und Aussehen ist diese D45 eine absolute Bereicherung für die Sammlung jedes Sammlers und Gitarristen, der nur das Beste will!
