In 1941 voegde Epiphone een versie met cutaway toe aan de serie, de Regent, waardoor het instrument geschikt werd voor solisten die meer bewegingsvrijheid in de hals nodig hadden. De achterkant en zijkanten van esdoornhout met vogelogenpatroon zijn opmerkelijk verfijnd, met een subtiele maar onmiskenbare nerf.
