Van de korte 24" mensuur tot het unieke schakelsysteem met drie schuifschakelaars en duimwieltjes; dit is een Jaguar zoals Leo Fender hem bedoelde! De Jaguar was Fenders antwoord op de vraag naar een nog luxueuzer model dan de Jazzmaster, en combineerde heldere single coil pickups met een kortere mensuur voor een speels en comfortabel speelgevoel!
Het model werd uitgerust met een innovatief schakelschema waarbij de gitarist met een enkele beweging kon wisselen tussen het lead circuit met volledige controle over beide pickups, en het rhythm circuit met vooraf ingestelde instellingen voor de hals pickup. Deze flexibiliteit maakte de Jaguar populair bij surfgitaristen in de jaren '60, maar het model vond later ook zijn weg naar punk, new wave en alternative rock.

From the short 24" scale length to the unique switching system with three slide switches and thumbwheels, this is a Jaguar exactly as Leo Fender intended it! The Jaguar was Fender’s answer to the demand for an even more luxurious model than the Jazzmaster, combining bright single-coil pickups with a shorter scale for a lively and comfortable playing feel.
The model featured an innovative switching layout that allowed the guitarist to switch between the lead circuit, offering full control over both pickups, and the rhythm circuit with preset settings for the neck pickup: all with a single motion. This flexibility made the Jaguar popular among surf guitarists in the 1960s, though it later found its way into punk, new wave, and alternative rock.
