A Stratocaster from the early years of the Fender Custom Shop is always something special, and this 1997 “American Classic” certainly lives up to that reputation.
Fender Custom Shop American Classic Fiesta Red 1997
Gebaseerd op de American Standard Stratocaster maar gebouwd volgens de hoge standaard van de Custom Shop, combineert dit model de vertrouwde klasse van de Standard-serie met de luxe en verfijning waar de Custom Shop om bekendstaat.
De Texas Special pickups vormen het hart van deze gitaar en leveren alles van sprankelende, levendige cleans tot rauwe, gedreven tonen die doen denken aan Stevie Ray Vaughan. In de tussenstanden klinkt de gitaar juist funky en gedefinieerd, met die onmiskenbare Strat sparkle. Gecombineerd met de akoestische resonantie van het instrument, biedt deze Strat een breed palet aan inspirerende klanken.
Ook qua bespeelbaarheid stelt hij niet teleur. Het medium halsprofiel voelt zeer comfortabel aan en samen met de soepele palissander toets en resonante esdoorn hals vormt dit een instrument dat minstens zo fijn speelt als het klinkt. De Fiesta Red afwerking springt direct in het oog, en ondanks enkele lichte gebruikssporen en frets die nog in uitstekende staat verkeren, is deze Stratocaster een prachtig voorbeeld van waarom de vroege Custom Shop gitaren zo geliefd zijn. Wordt geleverd in een koffer met TFOA paspoort.
Based on the American Standard Stratocaster but built to Custom Shop standards, it blends the familiar class of the Standard range with the flair and refinement the Custom Shop is known for.
At the heart of this guitar are a set of Texas Special pickups, delivering everything from crisp, lively and bell-like cleans to the rawer, more driven tones associated with Stevie Ray Vaughan. In the in-between positions, the sound becomes beautifully funky and articulate, offering that unmistakable Strat sparkle. Combined with the instrument’s naturally resonant character, this guitar covers a wide spectrum of inspiring tones.
Playability is just as impressive. The C-shaped neck profile feels extremely comfortable, and together with the smooth rosewood fingerboard and resonant maple neck, it makes for an instrument that feels as good as it sounds. Finished in striking Fiesta Red, with only light signs of playwear and frets still in excellent condition, this Stratocaster is a fine example of why the early Custom Shop era has such a strong reputation. Includes hardshell case and TFOA passport.

Das C-förmige Halsprofil fühlt sich äußerst komfortabel an und sorgt zusammen mit dem glatten Palisandergriffbrett und dem resonanten Ahornhals für ein Instrument, das sich genauso gut anfühlt, wie es klingt. Mit ihrem auffälligen Fiesta-Rot-Finish, nur leichten Gebrauchsspuren und Bünden, die sich noch in ausgezeichnetem Zustand befinden, ist diese Stratocaster ein gutes Beispiel dafür, warum die frühe Custom-Shop-Ära einen so guten Ruf hat.
