Vernoemd naar het iconische Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas, is dit model een aangepaste dreadnought die inmiddels een vaste waarde is geworden binnen bluegrass en akoestisch leadspel.
De CW is uitgerust met een massief Adirondack spruce bovenblad, gecombineerd met Adirondack bracing en een vergroot klankgat. Samen met een bracing patroon dat is gebaseerd op Collings’ vroegste 14 fret dreadnoughts levert dit een extreem responsieve en krachtige klank op, met veel volume, definitie en articulatie. De massief Honduran mahogany achter en zijkanten zorgen voor focus, warmte en een stevige fundamentele toon, zelfs bij stevig aanslaan.
Zoals je mag verwachten van Collings is de bespeelbaarheid van hoog niveau. Het modified V halsprofiel voelt comfortabel en stabiel aan, terwijl de compound radius ebony toets moeiteloos spelen over de hele hals mogelijk maakt. Subtiele maar herkenbare details zoals de tortoise slagplaat en de inlay loze toets geven de CW zijn karakteristieke uitstraling.

Named after the famous Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas, this dreadnought is a modified take on the Collings standard design and has become a true favorite among bluegrass and acoustic lead players.
This CW features a solid Adirondack spruce top paired with Adirondack bracing and an enlarged soundhole. Combined with a bracing pattern inspired by Collings’ earliest 14 fret dreadnoughts, the result is an incredibly responsive and authoritative voice with impressive volume, clarity and punch. The solid Honduran mahogany back and sides add focus, warmth and a strong fundamental, keeping the sound tight and controlled even under aggressive playing.
Playability is exactly what you would expect from Collings. The modified V neck profile feels supportive and comfortable, while the compound radius ebony fingerboard allows for effortless movement across the neck. Subtle but distinctive visual touches like the tortoise pickguard and clean fingerboard without inlays give the CW its instantly recognizable character.
