Collings OM1 Custom Figured Mahogany Blue Sitka
De gitaren van Collings onderscheiden zich door buitengewoon vakmanschap en het gebruik van de beste materialen. Deze OM1 Custom doet daar nog een schepje bovenop door zijn bovenblad van Sitka sparren dat is teruggewonnen uit drijvende boomstammen uit Alaska.
Deze stammen werden gedurende de 20e eeuw gebruikt voor drijvende constructies die de visvangst en houtkapindustrie ondersteunden. Het hout bevond zich decennialang in zout water, en bij het verwerken bleek het een grijs- tot blauwachtige kleur aangenomen te hebben. Het hout is door dit proces gerijpt, lichter van gewicht en ook stijver qua structuur. De gitaar beschikt hierdoor over een unieke en uitgesproken klank.
Voor de klankkast is gekozen voor prachtig figured mahonie dat een mooi contrast vormt met het bovenblad. Daarnaast beschikt het hout ook over fysieke en tonale capaciteiten om te voldoen aan de strenge eisen van de bouwers van Collings. Het instrument is afgewerkt met details van tortoise en abalone, waardoor de buitengewone kwaliteit van de gitaar nog een extra benadrukt wordt.
De gitaar wordt geleverd in een koffer van TKL.

These logs were used throughout the 20th century for floating structures that supported the fishing and logging industry. The wood had been in salt water for decades, and when processed it turned out to have taken on a gray to bluish color. The wood is aged through this process, lighter in weight and also stiffer in structure. This gives the guitar a unique and distinct sound.
Beautifully figured mahogany has been chosen for the back and sides, which forms a nice contrast with the top. In addition, the wood also has physical and tonal capabilities to meet the stringent requirements of Collings builders. The instrument is finished with tortoise and abalone details, further emphasizing the guitar's exceptional quality.
The guitar comes in a TKL hardshell case.
