De CS336 werd in 2000 geïntroduceerd als een origineel Custom Shop ontwerp, bedacht door gitarist en producent Larry Goldings. Ondanks de gelijkenis met een kleine ES335 is de constructie fundamenteel anders. De CS336 is in de kern een solidbody met twee zijdelingse kamers, waarbij het centrale sustain-blok van massief mahonie intact blijft. Denk eerder aan een gekamerde double-cut Les Paul met mahonie top dan aan de gelamineerde esdoorn constructie van een 335, want gemeenschappelijk DNA is er nauwelijks te bekennen.
Dit exemplaar uit 2017 is volledig in mahonie uitgevoerd, van de carved top tot de hals, wat het klankkarakter direct beïnvloedt. Mahonie geeft warmte, diepte en een volle, ronde toon met stevige sustain dankzij het massieve sustain-blok. De twee dogear P90-pickups sluiten daar naadloos op aan: rauw, direct en vol karakter, met meer body dan een standaard single coil maar zonder de dikke middentonen van een humbucker. De strakke TV White finish maakt het plaatje compleet, een look met een duidelijk rock-'n-roll randje!
Op de achterzijde van de body lichte buckle wear en een ding te vinden, en op het bovenblad bevinden zich lichte krasjes. Ook op de headstock is een krasjes te vinden, vlakbij het logo. De gitaar ziet er over het geheel gezien echter netjes uit, en wordt met TFOA paspoort geleverd in een Gibson Custom koffer.
The CS336 was introduced in 2000 as an original Custom Shop design, conceived by guitarist and producer Larry Goldings. Despite its resemblance to a smaller ES335, its construction is fundamentally different. At its core, the CS336 is a solidbody with two side chambers, leaving the central solid mahogany sustain block intact. Think more of a chambered double-cut Les Paul with a mahogany top than the laminated maple construction of a 335, as there's hardly any common DNA.
This 2017 example is made entirely of mahogany, from the carved top to the neck, which directly influences the tonal character. Mahogany provides warmth, depth, and a full, rounded tone with solid sustain thanks to the solid sustain block. The two dogear P90 pickups complement this perfectly: raw, direct, and full of character, with more body than a standard single-coil pickup but without the thick midrange of a humbucker. The sleek TV White finish completes the picture, a look with a distinctly rock 'n' roll edge!
Light buckle wear and dings can be found on the back of the body, and there are light scratches on the top. A scratch can also be found on the headstock, near the logo. Overall, however, the guitar looks good and comes with a TFOA passport in a Gibson Custom hardshell case.

Dieses Exemplar aus dem Jahr 2017 ist komplett aus Mahagoni gefertigt, von der gewölbten Decke bis zum Hals, was den Klangcharakter maßgeblich beeinflusst. Mahagoni sorgt für Wärme, Tiefe und einen vollen, runden Ton mit solidem Sustain dank des massiven Sustainblocks. Die beiden Dogear P90-Pickups ergänzen dies perfekt: roh, direkt und charaktervoll, mit mehr Fülle als ein Standard-Single-Coil-Pickup, aber ohne die wuchtigen Mitten eines Humbuckers. Das elegante TV-White-Finish rundet das Bild ab – ein Look mit unverkennbarem Rock-'n'-Roll-Flair!
Leichte Gebrauchsspuren vom Gürtel und kleine Dellen sind auf der Rückseite des Korpus zu sehen, und es befinden sich leichte Kratzer auf der Decke. Auch am Headstock, in der Nähe des Logos, ist ein Kratzer vorhanden. Insgesamt sieht die Gitarre jedoch gut aus und wird mit einem TFOA-Pass in einem Gibson Custom Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
