Deering Vega Old Time Wonder 12'' Banjo

For clawhammer banjo players who prefer a scooped neck to play their banjos over the fingerboard, Deering makes the Vega Old Time Wonder. Deering incorporates a traditional "scoop" into the fingerboard, which allows more room for the right hand fingers and thumb to play the strings over the fingerboard, giving them maximum tonal range.
They steam and bend the Violin Grade maple rim and install a fiberskyn head over the rim, a classic "no-knot tailpiece" for a traditional old-time sound. This is a lightweight banjo made specifically for musicians who want the warmer tones that fit well in a string section with fiddle and bass. It is the softest banjo sound, a nice full tone.
