This is the original 12-fret dreadnought shape, first designed almost a century ago. Collings has retained the shape and wide neck with slotted headstock from that bygone era, but their DS models are thoroughly modern guitars with a unique sound all their own.
Collings DS2H
Dit is de originele 12-fret dreadnought vorm, bijna een eeuw geleden voor het eerst ontworpen als een oversized Hawaiiaanse gitaar. Collings heeft de vorm en de brede hals met gesleufde kop uit die tijd behouden, maar hun DS modellen zijn door en door moderne gitaren met een geheel eigen geluid.
De langere body, met de brug dichter bij het midden van de lower bout, levert een open, luchtige toon met zoetheid en warmte die je niet vaak tegenkomt bij moderne 14-fret dreadnoughts. Of je nu flatpick speelt of fingerstyle, deze gitaar heeft veel headroom en het brede dynamische bereik nodigt uit tot alles van subtiele begeleiding tot stevige leads.
De herrinbone purfling en abalone diamonds & squares toets-inleg zijn ook knipogen naar het vooroorlogse tijdperk en samen met de exotische ebbenhouten kopfineer en ivoroid/tortoise rozet maken ze de stijlvolle look van deze 12 fret krachtpatser compleet.

This is the original 12-fret dreadnought shape, first designed as an oversized Hawaiian guitar almost a century ago. Collings has retained the shape and wide neck with slotted headstock from that bygone era, but their DS models are thoroughly modern guitars with a unique sound all their own.
The longer body, with the bridge closer to the center of the lower bout, delivers an open, airy tone with smoothness and warmth not typically found in modern, 14-fret dreadnoughts. Whether flatpicked or played fingerstyle, this guitar has lots of headroom and the wide dynamic range invites everything from mellow accompaniment to biting leads.
The herringbone purfling and abalone diamonds & squares fretboard inlay are nods to the prewar era as well and together with the stained exotic ebony headstock veneer and ivoroid/tortoise rosette complete the stylish look of this 12 fret powerhouse.
Comes in a hardshell case.

Dies ist die ursprüngliche 12-Bund-Dreadnought-Form, die vor fast einem Jahrhundert als übergroße Hawaii-Gitarre entwickelt wurde. Collings hat die Form und den breiten Hals mit geschlitzter Kopfplatte aus dieser vergangenen Ära beibehalten, aber ihre DS-Modelle sind durch und durch moderne Gitarren mit einem ganz eigenen Klang.
Der längere Korpus, bei dem der Steg näher an der Mitte der unteren Bucht liegt, sorgt für einen offenen, luftigen Ton mit einer Weichheit und Wärme, die man bei modernen Dreadnoughts mit 14 Bünden normalerweise nicht findet. Ob mit Flatpick oder Fingerstyle gespielt, diese Gitarre hat viel Headroom und der große Dynamikbereich lädt zu allem ein, von sanfter Begleitung bis zu bissigen Leads.
Die Fischgräteneinlage und die Griffbretteinlage aus Abalone-Diamanten und -Quadraten sind ebenfalls eine Anspielung auf die Vorkriegszeit und vervollständigen zusammen mit dem gefärbten exotischen Ebenholzfurnier der Kopfplatte und der Ebenholz-/Schildpatt-Rosette den stilvollen Look dieses 12-Bund-Kraftpakets.
