The regular E20D from Eastman is one of our favorite guitars in our range for a reason. With an Adirondack spruce top and a rosewood back and sides, this model has a fantastic sound for a very competitive price. Every now and then, Eastman releases a special model that goes a step further, like this Large Soundhole model that was developed in collaboration with Acoustic Shoppe!
Eastman E20D Large Sound Hole Thermo Cured
Net als de gewone E20D vinden we op dit bijzondere model een Thermo Cure Adirondack sparren bovenblad met een Truetone Gloss finish, maar dan met een vergroot klankgat zoals we die kennen van de 1935 D28 van Clarence White en Tony Rice. Door dit vergrote klankgat heeft de gitaar meer basrespons en een betere projectie, en dit maakt deze Eastman tot een absoluut bluegrass-kanon!
De gitaar heeft verder niet de minste specificaties. Zo vinden op zowel de body als de hals een ivoroid binding, met op de body ook een herringbone purfling. Eastman heeft op het bovenblad ook een prachtige slagplaat in dalmatian-stijl aangebracht, tezamen met een ebben brug met een belangrijk detail. De ebben brugpinnen zijn namelijk van het unslotted type, en klank-goeroes over de hele wereld zijn ervan overtuigd dat dit de beste methode is om het beste uit het geluid van een gitaar te halen!
De mahonie hals heeft het vertrouwde Traditonal Even C-halsprofiel dat Eastmans zo soepel bespeelbaar maakt. Ook hier heeft Eastman iets bijzonders in petto, want op de palissander headstock ontbreekt het logo! In plaats daarvan bevindt zich achterop de headstock een aangepast Eastman-logo, en we kunnen niet anders zeggen dat deze cleane stijl ons zeer aanspreekt.
Eastman heeft met deze E20D Large Soundhole een dijk van een gitaar gebouwd die zich met gemak kan meten met instrumenten uit het hogere segment!

Just like the regular E20D, this special model features a Thermo Cure Adirondack spruce top with a Truetone Gloss finish, but with an enlarged sound hole like the one we know from the 1935 D28 by Clarence White and Tony Rice. This enlarged sound hole gives the guitar more bass response and better projection, making this Eastman an absolute bluegrass cannon!
The guitar also has some impressive specifications. For example, both the body and neck have an ivoroid binding, with a herringbone purfling on the body. Eastman has also applied a beautiful Dalmatian-style pickguard to the top, along with an ebony bridge with an important detail. The ebony bridge pins are of the unslotted type, and sound gurus all over the world are convinced that this is the best method to get the most out of a guitar's sound!
The mahogany neck has the familiar Traditonal Even C-neck profile that makes Eastman so smooth to play. Eastman has something special up its sleeve here too, because the rosewood headstock lacks the logo! Instead, there is a modified Eastman logo on the back of the headstock, and we can only say that this clean style appeals to us very much.
With this E20D Large Soundhole, Eastman has built a great guitar that can easily compete with instruments from the higher segment!

Wie die reguläre E20D verfügt auch dieses Sondermodell über eine Thermo Cure Adirondack-Fichtendecke mit Truetone Gloss-Finish, jedoch mit einem vergrößerten Schallloch, wie wir es von der D28 von Clarence White und Tony Rice aus dem Jahr 1935 kennen. Dieses vergrößerte Schallloch verleiht der Gitarre mehr Bass und eine bessere Projektion und macht diese Eastman zu einer absoluten Bluegrass-Kanone!
Die Gitarre besticht außerdem durch einige beeindruckende Spezifikationen. So haben Korpus und Hals beispielsweise ein Ivoroid-Binding mit Fischgrät-Einlage auf dem Korpus. Eastman hat außerdem ein wunderschönes Schlagbrett im Dalmatiner-Stil auf der Decke angebracht, zusammen mit einem Ebenholzsteg mit einem besonderen Detail: Die Stegstifte aus Ebenholz sind ungeschlitzt, und Klangexperten weltweit sind überzeugt, dass dies die beste Methode ist, den Klang einer Gitarre optimal zu nutzen!
Der Mahagonihals hat das bekannte Traditonal Even C-Halsprofil, das die Eastman so geschmeidig spielbar macht. Auch hier hat Eastman etwas Besonderes parat: Die Palisanderkopfplatte verzichtet auf das Logo! Stattdessen prangt auf der Rückseite ein modifiziertes Eastman-Logo, und wir können nur sagen, dass uns dieser klare Stil sehr gut gefällt.
Mit der E20D Large Soundhole hat Eastman eine großartige Gitarre gebaut, die es problemlos mit Instrumenten aus dem höheren Segment aufnehmen kann!
