Dan Smith werd begin jaren ’80 aangesteld om de Fender Stratocaster te herzien en te verbeteren. Het CBS-tijdperk had Fender weinig goeds gebracht, en met het aantrekken van onder anderen Smith moest de Stratocaster weer naar de absolute top worden teruggebracht!
In juni 1983 werd de Standard Stratocaster ingrijpend herzien met als doel de productiekosten te verlagen. De jack-aansluiting werd verplaatst naar de nieuwe single-ply slagplaat met twaalf schroeven en er was nog maar één toonregeling in plaats van twee; vandaar de bijnaam “2 Knob Stratocaster”.
Verder beschikt deze Stratocaster over een ash body met Blonde finish, een esdoornhouten hals met een 12-inch radius en een Freeflyte tremolosysteem. De lak is sterk verkleurd, een erg gaaf effect!
Deze Dan Smith Strat is volledig origineel en verkeert in excellente conditie. Hij heeft minimale speelsporen opgelopen, met name op zijn achterzijde en zijn neckplate. Een prachtig exemplaar uit een zeer interessante periode in de geschiedenis van Fender! Wordt geleverd in een koffer met TFOA-paspoort.
In the early 1980s, Dan Smith was appointed to revise and improve the Fender Stratocaster. The CBS era had done Fender few favors, and with the appointment of Smith and others, the Stratocaster was meant to be brought back to the very top once again.
In June 1983, the Standard Stratocaster was extensively redesigned with the goal of reducing production costs. The output jack was moved to the new single-ply pickguard with twelve screws, and there was only one tone control instead of two hence the nickname “2 Knob Stratocaster.”
This Stratocaster features an ash body with a Blonde finish, a maple neck with a 12-inch radius, and a Freeflyte tremolo system. The finish has heavily discolored over time, creating a very cool and distinctive effect.
This Dan Smith Strat is completely original and in excellent condition. It shows only minimal signs of play wear, mainly on the back and the neck plate. A beautiful example from a very interesting period in Fender’s history! Comes in a case with a TFOA passport.

Im Juni 1983 wurde die Standard Stratocaster umfassend überarbeitet, mit dem Ziel, die Produktionskosten zu senken. Die Klinkenbuchse wurde auf das neue einlagige Pickguard mit zwölf Schrauben verlegt, und es gab nur noch eine Tonblende statt zwei daher der Spitzname „2 Knob Stratocaster“.
Diese Stratocaster verfügt über einen Eschekorpus mit Blonde-Finish, einen Ahornhals mit 12-Zoll-Radius sowie ein Freeflyte-Tremolosystem. Der Lack ist im Laufe der Zeit stark nachgedunkelt, was einen besonders schönen und charaktervollen Effekt erzeugt.
Diese Dan Smith Strat ist vollständig original und befindet sich in ausgezeichnetem Zustand. Sie weist nur minimale Spielspuren auf, hauptsächlich auf der Rückseite und an der Neckplate. Ein wunderschönes Exemplar aus einer sehr interessanten Periode der Fender-Geschichte! Wird in einem Koffer mit TFOA-Pass geliefert.
