This 1984 Gibson Les Paul Pro Deluxe comes from the Norlin era of the brand, which lasted from 1969 to 1986. With the introduction of the Les Paul Deluxe in 1969, Gibson made a change in the specifications of the iconic model.

Tot dan toe werden de Les Pauls uitgerust met P90-elementen, maar door de vraag naar elementen die minder brom veroorzaakten werden deze vervangen door de kleinere versie van de reguliere humbuckers. Door het kleinere formaat hebben deze pickups een heldere en gefocuste toon. De Mini-Humbucker in de brugpositie produceert een heldere toon, en de hals pickup leent zich voor romige blues tonen die in één adem genoemd kunnen worden met het traditionele Gibson toonpalet.
Deze Les Paul is gemaakt van mahonie met een driedelige esdoorn top, en doordat de body geheel massief is heeft de gitaar een niet gering gewicht van zo'n 4,7 kilogram. Afgewerkt met Cherry Sunburst finish en voorzien van een crèmekleurige binding heeft de gitaar de welbekende typische Les Paul-look. De driedelige esdoorn hals is ook comfortabel te bespelen, en is dankzij zijn brede, lage frets ook een echt Fretless Wonder!
De gitaar is door de jaren heen goed behandeld, want er zijn slechts lichte speelsporen en lichte craquelé in de lak te vinden op de body en top, en ook op de zijkant van de headstock bij de topkam. De gitaar is echter uitzonderlijk schoon voor een instrument van ruim vier decennia, en is een mooie aanvulling op elke gitaarcollectie!
Until then, the Les Pauls were equipped with P90 pickups, but due to the demand for pickups that caused less hum, these were replaced by the smaller version of the regular humbuckers. Due to the smaller size, these pickups have a clear and focused tone. The Mini-Humbucker in the bridge position produces a bright tone, and the neck pickup lends itself to creamy blues tones that can be mentioned in the same breath as the traditional Gibson tonal palette.
This Les Paul is made of mahogany with a three-piece maple top, and because the body is completely solid, the guitar has a not insignificant weight of approximately 4.7 kilograms. Finished in Cherry Sunburst and fitted with a cream-coloured binding, the guitar has the well-known typical Les Paul look. The three-piece maple neck is also comfortable to play, and is also a real Fretless Wonder thanks to its wide, low frets!
The guitar has been well treated over the years, as there are only light playwear and light crackle in the finish on the body and top, and also on the side of the headstock near the top nut. However, the guitar is exceptionally clean for an instrument of over four decades, and is a nice addition to any guitar collection!
Bis dahin waren Les Pauls mit P90-Tonabnehmern ausgestattet, doch aufgrund der Nachfrage nach Tonabnehmern mit weniger Brummen wurden diese durch die kleinere Version der regulären Humbucker ersetzt. Die kleinere Größe dieser Tonabnehmer verleiht ihnen einen klaren und fokussierten Ton. Der Mini-Humbucker in der Bridge-Position erzeugt einen hellen Ton und der Hals-Pickup eignet sich für cremige Blues-Töne, die in einem Atemzug mit der traditionellen Gibson-Klangpalette genannt werden können.
Diese Les Paul ist aus Mahagoni mit einer dreiteiligen Ahorndecke gefertigt und da der Korpus komplett massiv ist, bringt es die Gitarre auf ein beachtliches Gewicht von rund 4,7 Kilogramm. Mit einem Cherry Sunburst-Finish versehen und mit einem cremefarbenen Binding versehen, verfügt die Gitarre über den bekannten typischen Les Paul-Look. Auch der dreiteilige Ahornhals lässt sich angenehm spielen und ist dank seiner breiten, niedrigen Bünde zudem ein wahres Fretless Wonder!
Die Gitarre wurde über die Jahre gut gepflegt, da nur leichte Spielspuren und leichtes Knistern im Lack am Korpus und an der Oberseite sowie an der Seite der Kopfplatte in der Nähe des Sattels vorhanden sind. Für ein über vier Jahrzehnte altes Instrument ist die Gitarre jedoch außergewöhnlich sauber und eine schöne Ergänzung für jede Gitarrensammlung!
