Naast een fantastische muzikant was Prince ook een stijlicoon, vaak gezien met opvallend vormgegeven gitaren. Een van zijn beroemdste gitaren was de Mad Cat, die hij gebruikte op albums als Purple Rain, 1999 en Musicology.
Deze replica van de Mad Cat is gebouwd in 2013 door Gun Guitars. De gitaar is gebouwd met een unieke constructie bestaande uit een tweedelige essenhouten body, gescheiden door een strook walnoot. Zowel de voor- als achterkant zijn afgewerkt met een gevlamd esdoornfineer, omlijst door zwarte binding. De iconische luipaardprint slagplaat draagt zonder twijfel bij aan de kenmerkende en herkenbare stijl van de gitaar. Qua elektronica heeft de gitaar twee single-coil elementen die, met behulp van de push/pull-functie van de toonregelaar, een iets hogere output leveren, waardoor de gitaar nog veelzijdiger is.
De hardtail brug en Kluson stemmechanieken, samen met de stevige hals van gevlamd esdoornhout, maken deze Mad Cat een zeer stabiel instrument. De gitaar vertoont slechts lichte gebruikssporen op de body, met één deukje op de hals aan de baszijde van de eerste fret. Ook opvallend is de vervorming van de slagplaat en rond de brugpickup. De gitaar is verder zeer schoon en een prachtig eerbetoon aan Prince' iconische instrument!

One of his most famous guitars was the Mad Cat, which he used on albums like Purple Rain, 1999, and Musicology. This Mad Cat replica was built in 2013 by Gun Guitars from Kloosterzande, Zeeland.
The guitar was built with a unique construction consisting of a two-piece ash body separated by a strip of walnut. Both the front and back are finished with a flamed maple veneer, framed by black binding. The iconic leopard pickguard undoubtedly contributes to the guitar's distinctive and recognizable style. In terms of electronics, the guitar features two single-coil pickups that, when using the tone knob's push/pull function, deliver slightly more output, making it even more versatile.
The hardtail bridge and Kluson tuners, along with the sturdy flamed maple neck, make this Mad Cat a very stable instrument. The guitar has only light playwear on the body, with one ding on the neck at the bass side of the first fret. Also noticeable is the warping of the pickguard and around the bridge pickup. The guitar is otherwise very clean and is a beautiful tribute to Prince's iconic instrument!

Diese Replik der Mad Cat wurde 2013 von Gun Guitars gebaut. Die Gitarre zeichnet sich durch ihre einzigartige Konstruktion aus: Der zweiteilige Korpus aus Esche ist durch einen Streifen Walnussholz getrennt. Vorder- und Rückseite sind mit einem geflammten Ahornfurnier versehen und von einem schwarzen Binding eingefasst. Das ikonische Schlagbrett mit Leopardenmuster trägt zweifellos zum unverwechselbaren Stil der Gitarre bei. Die Elektronik besteht aus zwei Single-Coil-Tonabnehmern, die dank der Push/Pull-Funktion des Tonreglers eine etwas höhere Ausgangsleistung liefern und die Gitarre dadurch noch vielseitiger machen.
Die Hardtail-Brücke und die Kluson-Mechaniken sowie der robuste Hals aus geflammtem Ahorn machen diese Mad Cat zu einem sehr stabilen Instrument. Die Gitarre weist nur geringe Gebrauchsspuren am Korpus auf, mit einer kleinen Delle am Hals am Bassende des ersten Bundes. Auch die Wölbung des Schlagbretts und um den Steg-Tonabnehmer herum ist erkennbar. Ansonsten ist die Gitarre in einem sehr guten Zustand und eine wunderschöne Hommage an Princes legendäres Instrument!
