Zo beschikt deze gitaar over een prachtig gevlamde esdoorn klankkast, en zoals de meeste Atkin gitaren is hij licht ge-aged met een gebakken Sitka sparren bovenblad om de toon nog opener te maken, en het uiterlijk nog aantrekkelijker! Esdoorn kan een gitaar soms een wat schelle klank geven, maar door de juiste voicing en bouwtechnieken heeft Atkin de juiste mix van warmte en helderheid naar boven gebracht.
Het mooiste detail is zonder twijfel de gegraveerde en met de hand beschilderde ijsvogel in de slagplaat. Door de tortoise binding en eenvoudige rozet doet deze gitaar ook wel denken aan de befaamde Kalamazoo Oriole, en we kunnen niet anders concluderen dat Atkin hier een prachtige variant op heeft gemaakt.
De Forty Three is zowel direct als krachtig, maar met een comfortabel te bespelen kortere mensuur is het gemakkelijk te zien waarom deze gitaar door de jaren heen van zoveel singer-songwriters de voorkeur krijgt. De grote, slope shoulder body-vorm levert warme middentonen, solide lage tonen en een geweldige definitie. Het is een tijdloze akoestische gitaarklank!
Atkin Guitars werd door Alister Atkin opgericht in Canterbury, Engeland in 1995. Wat als eenmansbedrijf begon met slechts een handje vol unieke gitaren ieder jaar, is gestaag uitgegroeid tot een van de meest succesvolle akoestische gitaarmerken in Engeland. Waar Atkin al geruime tijd bewijst dat het merk als geen ander een gitaar kan bouwen, is het aging-proces misschien wel het meest indrukwekkende aspect van Atkin Guitars. De passie waarmee deze instrumenten gemaakt zijn straalt er vanaf, en het is moeilijk om niet verliefd te worden op zowel de klank als het uiterlijk.
This guitar has a beautiful flamed maple back and sides, and like most Atkin guitars it is lightly aged with a baked Sitka spruce top to make the tone even more open, and the look even more attractive! Maple can sometimes give a guitar a somewhat shrill sound, but with the right voicing and construction techniques Atkin has brought out the right mix of warmth and clarity.
The most beautiful detail is without a doubt the engraved and hand-painted kingfisher in the pickguard. Due to the tortoise binding and simple rosette this guitar is also reminiscent of the famous Kalamazoo Oriole, and we can only conclude that Atkin has made a beautiful variation on this.
The Forty Three is both punchy and powerful, yet with a comfortably playable shorter scale, it's easy to see why it's been the guitar of choice for so many singer-songwriters over the years. The large, slope-shoulder body shape delivers warm mids, solid lows, and great definition. It's a timeless acoustic guitar tone!

Die Forty Three ist sowohl reaktionsschnell als auch kraftvoll, verfügt jedoch über eine angenehm zu spielende kürzere Mensur.
