Built in Germany during the 1950s, the Hoyer Special is a beautifully styled archtop that showcases the elegant craftsmanship and tonal character that made Hoyer such a respected name in European guitar building. With its natural gloss finish, carved spruce top and figured maple back and sides, this archtop delivers a warm, open acoustic voice with excellent clarity and projection, equally at home in jazz, swing and vintage electric contexts.

Dit exemplaar is voorzien van een aantal doordachte aanpassingen die de bespeelbaarheid en veelzijdigheid vergroten. In de halspositie is een Bartolini 5J humbucker geplaatst, die zorgt voor een ronde, heldere en dynamische versterkte klank. Het originele trapeze staartstuk is vervangen door een Gretsch branded Bigsby, waarmee subtiele vibrato effecten mogelijk zijn zonder afbreuk te doen aan de vintage uitstraling. Daarnaast zijn Sperzel locking stemmechanieken gemonteerd voor stabiele stemming en is de gitaar uitgerust met een Tune O Matic brug voor nauwkeurige intonatie.
De esdoorn hals heeft een comfortabel C profiel en is gecombineerd met een ebbenhouten toets met een 14" radius, wat resulteert in een soepele speelervaring over de volledige 24.9" mensuur. De gitaar heeft enkele kleine gerepareerde scheurtjes, die professioneel zijn hersteld. Voor zijn leeftijd is deze Hoyer opvallend schoon en volledig functioneel, met een klank en speelgevoel die perfect passen bij een karaktervolle vintage archtop.

This Hoyer has been thoughtfully modified to enhance its versatility and playability. It is fitted with a Bartolini 5J humbucker in the neck position, offering a smooth, articulate amplified tone with plenty of warmth and definition. The original trapeze tailpiece has been replaced by a Gretsch branded Bigsby, adding expressive vibrato possibilities while maintaining a classic visual appeal. Sperzel locking tuners have been installed for improved tuning stability, and a Tune O Matic bridge ensures accurate intonation and a solid feel under the fingers.
The maple neck has a comfortable C profile and is paired with an ebony fingerboard with a 14" radius, resulting in a smooth and confident playing experience across the 24.9" scale length. The guitar shows some small repaired cracks, all professionally addressed, and remains fully functional and remarkably clean for an archtop of this age. It is a characterful vintage instrument that combines classic German build quality with practical modern upgrades.
