We have regularly received classical guitars from Noemi Schembri, but this time we fell in love with a crossover model with Indian rosewood back and sides and a cedar top.
Noemi Schembri Classical Model N-CR Crossover
Noemi Schembri was born in San Cataldo, Italy, in 1983. In 2011, Noemi moved to Canada to apprentice with master luthier Sergei de Jonge in the workshop where she went through the full course in 5 months. She made both steel- and nylon-string guitars, working on her own creations and improving her technique and style. Sergei considers her one of his very best students.
Needless to say, we are impressed by the sound of Noemi guitars. We have already had regular classical guitars from her, but at our request, she revised and remodelled her crossover-fusion model. This is therefore a completely new model, and we are more than heavily impressed with the guitar's qualities and looks.
This crossover model features Indian rosewood back and sides and a cedar top. This crossover strikes a nice bridge between the classical and western guitar worlds. For instance, this guitar has a wide 48mm nut and 650mm scale but, unlike many classical models, it has 14 frets to the body, a cutaway and 16" - 20" compound fingerboard radius, which greatly enhance the playability.
The beautiful looks, and impressive sound qualities and fine playability make this guitar very attractive for those who have incorporated Jazz or Bossa Nova into their playing style. A crossover of the highest order.
