Vintage Stratocasters are among the most coveted guitars, not least because many great guitarists played their most famous hits on models from the '50s and '60s. However, their popularity has also caused prices to rise significantly, so let's move on to the next decade: the '70s!
Fender Stratocaster Hardtail Black 1979
De jaren '70 waren een interessante periode voor Fender. Na het enorme succes van de jaren '60 wilde CBS de winst verhogen door te besparen op het productieproces. Maar dat betekent zeker niet dat gitaren uit de jaren '70 geen goede instrumenten zijn! Deze hardtail Stratocaster uit 1979 bewijst dat er in die tijd nog steeds fantastische gitaren werden gebouwd.
Stratocasters uit de jaren '70 staan meestal bekend om hun grote headstock en relatief hoge gewicht, en wat dat laatste betreft stelt deze Stratocaster met ruim 4,3 kilogram zeker niet teleur! In het begin van de jaren '70 werden de lichte stukken essenhout gebruikt, waarna de zwaardere delen vanzelfsprekend overbleven naarmate het decennium vorderde.
De body en hals zijn beide afkomstig uit 1979, maar hebben elk een ander serienummer. De C-vormige hals voelt stevig aan en biedt een uitstekende speelbaarheid. De zwarte finish en slagplaat doen natuurlijk denken aan de Stratocaster van David Gilmour, terwijl de 'bullet' truss rod en grote kop typische '70s kenmerken zijn. Wat ook opvalt is de lichte kleur van de 7.25" radius toets. Deze is bij een refret gehad namelijk opnieuw gevlakt en is daarna behandeld met Tru Oil. Hierbij is ook de topkam vervagen door een exemplaar van Graphtech.
De 'hardtail' Strats staan bekend om hun resonantie, en samen met de drie single coil pickups kan je met deze gitaar qua sounds vele kanten op! De hals- en middenpickup hebben flush poles, terwijl de vervangen brugpickup staggered poles heeft. Ook is de gitaar voorzien van Japanse potmeters, en is ook de slagplaat afwijkend door de niet verzonken schroeven van de pickupschakelaar. Fenders waren natuurlijk gewilde gitaren om te modificeren, en ook deze Stratocaster is op dat gebied de dans niet ontsprongen. Maar dat neemt niet weg dat deze vintage gitaar een heerlijk spelend én klinkende instrument is!

The 1970s were an interesting period for Fender. After the enormous success of the 1960s, CBS wanted to increase profits by cutting back on the production process. But that certainly doesn't mean guitars from the 1970s weren't good instruments! This 1979 hardtail Stratocaster proves that fantastic guitars were still being built back then.
Stratocasters from the 1970s are usually known for their large headstock and relatively high weight, and this Stratocaster certainly doesn't disappoint at over 4.3 kilograms (9.7 lbs)! In the early 1970s, lightweight ash pieces were used, with the heavier parts naturally remaining as the decade progressed.
The body and neck are both from 1979, but each has a different serial number. The C-shaped neck feels solid and offers excellent playability. The black finish and pickguard are naturally reminiscent of David Gilmour's Stratocaster, while the 'bullet' truss rod and large headstock are typical '70s features. Also striking is the light color of the 7.25" radius fretboard. It was re-surfaced during a refret and then treated with Tru Oil. The nut was also faded with a Graphtech oil.
The 'hardtail' Strats are known for their resonance, and together with the three single-coil pickups, this guitar offers a wide range of tonal options! The neck and middle pickups have flush poles, while the replaced bridge pickup has staggered poles. The guitar also features Japanese potentiometers, and the pickguard is also different due to the non-recessed screws on the pickup switch. Fenders were, of course, popular guitars for modification, and this Stratocaster has certainly not left untouched in that regard. But that doesn't change the fact that this vintage guitar plays and sounds wonderful!

Die 1970er Jahre waren eine interessante Zeit für Fender. Nach dem enormen Erfolg der 1960er Jahre wollte CBS seinen Gewinn durch Verkürzung des Produktionsprozesses steigern. Das heißt aber nicht, dass Gitarren aus den 1970er Jahren keine guten Instrumente waren! Diese Hardtail Stratocaster von 1979 beweist, dass damals noch fantastische Gitarren gebaut wurden.
Stratocaster aus den 1970er Jahren sind üblicherweise für ihre große Kopfplatte und ihr relativ hohes Gewicht bekannt, und diese Stratocaster enttäuscht mit über 4,3 Kilogramm (9,7 lbs) ganz sicher nicht! Anfang der 1970er Jahre wurden leichte Eschenteile verwendet, die schwereren Teile blieben im Laufe des Jahrzehnts natürlich erhalten.
Korpus und Hals stammen beide aus dem Jahr 1979, haben aber jeweils eine andere Seriennummer. Der C-förmige Hals fühlt sich solide an und bietet hervorragende Spielbarkeit. Das schwarze Finish und das Schlagbrett erinnern natürlich an David Gilmours Stratocaster, während der „Bullet“-Halsstab und die große Kopfplatte typische Merkmale der 70er Jahre sind. Auffällig ist auch die helle Farbe des Griffbretts mit 7,25 Zoll Radius. Es wurde beim Neubundieren neu beschichtet und anschließend mit Tru Oil behandelt. Der Sattel wurde ebenfalls mit Graphtech-Öl behandelt.
Die „Hardtail“-Strats sind für ihre Resonanz bekannt, und zusammen mit den drei Single-Coil-Tonabnehmern bietet diese Gitarre eine große Bandbreite an Klangmöglichkeiten! Die Hals- und Mittel-Tonabnehmer haben bündige Pole, während der ersetzte Steg-Tonabnehmer versetzte Pole hat. Die Gitarre verfügt außerdem über japanische Potentiometer, und auch das Schlagbrett unterscheidet sich durch die nicht versenkten Schrauben am Tonabnehmerschalter. Fender-Gitarren waren natürlich beliebte Gitarren für Modifikationen, und diese Stratocaster ist in dieser Hinsicht sicherlich nicht unberührt geblieben. Das ändert jedoch nichts daran, dass sich diese Vintage-Gitarre wunderbar spielen und klingen lässt!
