Martin D18 1955 CFM IV 70th 69 of 70 Limited Edition

Ter gelegenheid van Chris Martin IV’s 70e verjaardag presenteert Martin de D18 1955 CFM IV 70th, gebaseerd op een originele D18 uit 1955 die recent op een veiling werd verworven. Die gitaar, met serienummer 144636, maakte deel uit van de legendarische collectie van Skip Maggiora en draagt de sporen van een rijk bespeeld bestaan. 1955 was niet alleen een belangrijk jaar voor de Martin-familie, maar ook het begin van de folkrevival die de Amerikaanse muziek voorgoed veranderde. 

Deze nieuwe Limited Edition vangt de essentie van die periode met een authentieke toon en uitstraling. De glanzend gefinishte Dreadnought-body met mahonie achter- en zijkanten levert een warm en vol middengebied met een heldere boventoon. De top is vervaardigd uit hergebruikt sparrenhout uit Alaska, afkomstig van omgewaaide bomen, afgebroken bruggen en oud hout dat ooit deel uitmaakte van historische houttransporten. Het is de eerste keer dat Martin dit unieke, duurzaam verkregen hout gebruikt, bedrukt om het doorleefde karakter van het originele 1955-model te weerspiegelen.

In combinatie met non-scalloped Sitka sparren X-bracing biedt de gitaar een precieze, gebalanceerde klank met veel definitie. De FSC-gecertificeerde palissander toets is voorzien van parelmoeren 1955 Style 18-dot inlays, terwijl de matte hals van mahonie met een Golden Era Modified Low Oval-profiel zorgt voor een natuurlijke speelervaring. Vintage-look Kluson Waffleback-stemmechanieken completeren het geheel met een tijdloze uitstraling en betrouwbare werking. Gelimiteerd tot slechts 70 stuks die elk zijn voorzien van een handtekening van Chris Martin IV, vormt deze D18 met serienummer 69 een waardig eerbetoon aan zijn toewijding aan kwaliteit, traditie en vernieuwing!

To celebrate Chris Martin IV's 70th birthday, Martin presents the D18 1955 CFM IV 70th, based on an original 1955 D18 recently acquired at auction. This guitar, serial number 144636, was part of Skip Maggiora's legendary collection and bears the marks of a richly played life. 1955 was not only a pivotal year for the Martin family but also the beginning of the folk revival that forever changed American music.


This new Limited Edition captures the essence of that era with authentic tone and presence. The gloss-finished Dreadnought body with mahogany back and sides delivers a warm and full midrange with a bright top end. The top is crafted from reclaimed Alaskan spruce, sourced from fallen trees, broken bridges, and old wood from historic lumber shipments. This marks the first time Martin has used this unique, sustainably sourced wood, stamped to reflect the weathered character of the original 1955 model.


Combined with non-scalloped Sitka spruce X-bracing, the guitar delivers a precise, balanced tone with plenty of definition. The FSC-certified rosewood fingerboard features pearloid 1955 Style 18-dot inlays, while the matte mahogany neck with a Golden Era Modified Low Oval profile provides a natural playing experience. Vintage-look Kluson Waffleback tuners complete the package with a timeless look and reliable performance. Limited to just 70 pieces, each signed by Chris Martin IV, this D18, serial number 69, is a worthy tribute to his dedication to quality, tradition, and innovation!

Anlässlich des 70. Geburtstags von Chris Martin IV präsentiert Martin die D18 1955 CFM IV 70th, basierend auf einer originalen D18 von 1955, die kürzlich auf einer Auktion erworben wurde. Diese Gitarre mit der Seriennummer 144636 war Teil der legendären Sammlung von Skip Maggiora und trägt die Spuren eines intensiven Spiellebens. 1955 war nicht nur ein Wendepunkt für die Familie Martin, sondern auch der Beginn der Folk-Revival-Bewegung, die die amerikanische Musik nachhaltig veränderte.

Martin verwendet dieses einzigartige, nachhaltig gewonnene Holz zum ersten Mal. Es wurde so gestempelt, dass es den verwitterten Charakter des Originalmodells von 1955 widerspiegelt.


In Kombination mit der nicht gewölbten Sitka-Fichten-X-Verstrebung liefert die Gitarre einen präzisen, ausgewogenen und definierten Ton. Das FSC-zertifizierte Palisandergriffbrett ist mit Perlmutt-18-Punkt-Inlays im Stil von 1955 versehen, während der matte Mahagonihals mit seinem modifizierten, flachen Ovalprofil (Golden Era Modified Low Oval) ein natürliches Spielgefühl bietet. Vintage-inspirierte Kluson-Waffleback-Mechaniken runden das Gesamtpaket mit zeitloser Optik und zuverlässiger Performance ab. Diese auf nur 70 Stück limitierte D18 mit der Seriennummer 69, jede von Chris Martin IV signiert, ist eine würdige Hommage an sein Engagement für Qualität, Tradition und Innovation!
