Orla Strijker is nog maar 23 jaar oud, een van de jongste gitaarbouwers van het land en al jaren te vinden in onze werkplaats. Daarnaast is ze naar Canada afgereisd om bij niemand minder dan Sergei de Jonge in de leer te gaan. Hier is ze ook begonnen aan deze schitterende OM13, die ze later in haar eigen werkplaats in Schuinesloot heeft afgemaakt. Om haar roots te eren zijn de werkplaats en 'guest house' van Sergei te zien om het label in de klankkast.
Deze 13 Fret OM is werkelijk een plaatje met prachtige houtsoorten en stijlvolle decoratie. De achterkant en zijkanten zijn gemaakt van cocobolo, wat we ook terug vinden op de binding en kopfineer, en het Engelmann sparren bovenblad heeft een mooi 'bear claw' patroon. Maar Orla kan niet alleen visueel mooie gitaren bouwen, ze klinken ook nog eens geweldig!
Wat bij deze OM13 meteen opvalt is de diepe, volle en heldere klank die na mate hij meer ingespeeld zal worden alleen nog maar mooier kan worden. Een van de redenen waarom hij zo warm en vol klinkt is de combinatie van een langere mensuur van 25.7 inch en constructie met 13 frets tot de klankkast waardoor de brug iets verder naar achteren kan worden geplaatst. Tussen de kam en de twaalfde fret is de nitro-lak weggelaten waardoor de slanke V-vormige mahonie hals heel soepel aanvoelt. Deze OM is dus een veelzijdig instrument die geschikt is voor veel speelstijlen.

Orla Strijker is only 23 years old, one of the youngest luthiers in the country and has been working in our workshop for many years already. A couple years ago, she traveled to Canada to become an apprentice to none other than Sergei de Jonge. Here she also started building this beautiful OM13, which she later finished in her own workshop in Schuinesloot. To honor her roots, Sergei's workshop and guest house can be seen on the interior label.
This 13 Fret OM is a true beauty with beautiful tonewoods and stylish decoration. The back and sides are made of cocobolo, which can also be found on the binding and headstock veneer, and the Engelmann spruce top has a beautiful 'bear claw' pattern. But Orla can not only build visually beautiful guitars, they also sound great!
What immediately stands out with this OM13 is the deep, full and clear sound, which will only become even more beautiful as it is played in more. One of the reasons it sounds so warm and full is the combination of a longer scale length of 25.7 inches and 13-fret construction to the body that allows the bridge to be moved back slightly. The nitro lacquer has been omitted between the bridge and the twelfth fret, making the slim V-shaped mahogany neck very smooth to the touch. This OM is thus a versatile instrument suitable for many playing styles.

Orla Strijker ist erst 23 Jahre alt, eine der jüngsten Gitarrenbauerinnen im Land, und arbeitet bereits seit vielen Jahren in unserer Werkstatt. Vor einigen Jahren reiste sie nach Kanada, um bei niemand Geringerem als Sergei de Jonge in die Lehre zu gehen. Dort begann sie auch mit dem Bau dieser wunderschönen OM13, die sie später in ihrer eigenen Werkstatt in Schuinesloot fertigstellte. Zur Ehre ihrer Wurzeln kann man auf dem Innenaufkleber das Werkstatt- und Gästehaus von Sergei sehen.
Diese 13-Fret OM ist ein wahres Schmuckstück mit wunderschönen Tonhölzern und stilvoller Verzierung. Boden und Zargen bestehen aus Cocobolo, das auch an der Binding und der Kopfplattenfurnier zu finden ist, und die Fichtendecke aus Engelmann hat ein wunderschönes "Bärenklauen"-Muster. Aber Orla kann nicht nur optisch schöne Gitarren bauen, sie klingen auch großartig!
Was sofort auffällt bei dieser OM13 ist der tiefe, volle und klare Klang, der mit zunehmender Spielzeit nur noch schöner wird. Einer der Gründe, warum sie so warm und voll klingt, ist die Kombination aus einer längeren Mensur von 25,7 Zoll und dem 13-Bund-Korpusanschluss, der es ermöglicht, die Brücke leicht nach hinten zu verschieben. Der Nitrolack wurde zwischen der Brücke und dem zwölften Bund weggelassen, wodurch sich der schlanke, V-förmige Mahagonihals sehr geschmeidig anfühlt. Diese OM ist somit ein vielseitiges Instrument, das für viele Spielstile geeignet ist.
