Santa Cruz OM Indian Rosewood Sitka Spruce 2018

​​In de jaren '20 van de vorige eeuw was het Orchestra Model oorspronkelijk bedoeld als een grote gitaar die boven andere orkestinstrumenten kon worden gehoord, vandaar de OM naam. Hoewel dit model voldeed, werd de relatief grote body al snel overschaduwd door de machtige dreadnought. Santa Cruz was een van de eerste moderne bouwers die deze nu kleinere favoriet succesvol herintroduceerde aan het begin van de jaren '80.

Het geluid van deze fraaie OM laat veel gitaren ver achter zich. Het palissander is van zeer hoge kwaliteit en geeft een vol en rijk geluid dat wordt aangevuld door een prachtig fijngenerfd Sitka sparren bovenblad, dat is omlijst met een grained ivoroid binding en herringbone purfling. De heldere resonantie van het sparren bovenblad zorgt voor een vol en dynamisch geluid. Daarnaast heeft hij ook een zeer comfortabele bespeelbaarheid dankzij de soft V mahonie hals die net als de klankkast vakkundig is afgewerkt met een grained ivoroid binding en kleine parelmoer stipinleg voor een  uitstraling.

Deze Santa Cruz uit 2018 heeft lichte speelsporen en enkele kleine dings op zowel het boven- als achterblad, met daarbij ook lichte speelsporen op de achterzijde van de hals. De gitaar is over het geheel gezien echter zeer schoon, en wordt met TFOA paspoort geleverd in een koffer van Ameritage.

​​In the 1920s, the Orchestra Model was originally intended as a large guitar that could be heard above other orchestral instruments, hence the OM name. Although this model was adequate, the relatively large body was soon overshadowed by the mighty dreadnought. Santa Cruz was one of the first modern builders to successfully reintroduce this now smaller favorite in the early 1980s.


The sound of this beautiful OM leaves many guitars far behind. The rosewood is of very high quality and gives a full and rich sound that is complemented by a beautiful fine-grained Sitka spruce top, which is framed with a grained ivoroid binding and herringbone purfling. The bright resonance of the spruce top ensures a full and dynamic sound. In addition, it also has a very comfortable playability thanks to the soft V mahogany neck that, like the body, is expertly finished with a grained ivoroid binding and small mother-of-pearl dot inlays for a look.


This 2018 Santa Cruz has light playwear and some small dings on both the top and back, with some light playwear on the back of the neck. Overall though, the guitar is very clean, and comes with a TFOA passport in an Ameritage hardshell case.

​​In den 1920er Jahren war das Orchestermodell ursprünglich als große Gitarre gedacht, die über anderen Orchesterinstrumenten zu hören war, daher der Name OM. Obwohl dieses Modell angemessen war, wurde der relativ große Korpus bald vom mächtigen Dreadnought in den Schatten gestellt. Santa Cruz war einer der ersten modernen Hersteller, der diesen mittlerweile kleineren Favoriten Anfang der 1980er Jahre erfolgreich wieder einführte.


Der Klang dieser wunderschönen OM lässt viele Gitarren weit hinter sich. Das Palisanderholz ist von sehr hoher Qualität und ergibt einen vollen und satten Klang, der durch eine wunderschöne, fein gemaserte Sitka-Fichtendecke ergänzt wird, die mit einer gemaserten Ivoroid-Bindung und einer Fischgräten-Einlage umrahmt ist. Die helle Resonanz der Fichtendecke sorgt für einen vollen und dynamischen Klang. Darüber hinaus bietet es dank des weichen V-förmigen Mahagonihalses, der ebenso wie der Korpus fachmännisch mit einer gemaserten Elfenbeinbindung und kleinen Perlmutt-Punkteinlagen für eine optische Note versehen ist, eine sehr angenehme Spielbarkeit.


Dieser Santa Cruz von 2018 weist leichte Spielspuren und einige kleine Dellen auf der Ober- und Rückseite sowie einige leichte Spielspuren im Nacken auf. Insgesamt ist die Gitarre jedoch sehr sauber und wird mit einem TFOA-Pass in einem Hartschalenkoffer von Ameritage geliefert.
