Vintage Stratocasters are among the most coveted guitars, not least because many great guitarists played their most famous hits on models from the 50s and 60s. However, their popularity has also caused the prices of these guitars to rise considerably, so let's move on to the next decade: the 70s!
Fender Stratocaster Natural 1975
De jaren '70 waren een interessante periode voor Fender. Na het grote succes van de jaren '60 wilde CBS de winst verhogen door te besparen op het productieproces. Maar dat betekent zeker niet dat gitaren uit de jaren '70 geen goede instrumenten zijn; integendeel! Deze Stratocaster uit het midden van de jaren '70 is het levende bewijs dat er in die tijd nog steeds fantastische gitaren werden gebouwd!
De Stratocasters uit de jaren '70 kenmerken zich doorgaans door hun grote kop en hoge gewicht. Dit exemplaar uit 1975 is echter niet extreem zwaar voor een gitaar uit die tijd, met een gewicht van 3,53 kg. De gitaar heeft een natuurlijk afgewerkte elzenhouten body met daarbij een esdoorn hals met C-profiel. Deze Stratocaster beschikt uiteraard over de karakteristieke drie single coil pickups, en in dit zijn in dit geval de originele Grey Bottoms uit de 42e week van 1974. Op het gebied van elektronica vinden we verder twee originele CTS toonpotmeters uit 1974, maar de volumepotmeter is wel vervangen.
Op het gebied van hardware heeft de gitaar zijn originele frets, tremolo en stemmechanieken, maar de topkam is vervangen. De glanzende finish vertoont her en der speelsporen en dings, maar de gitaar ziet er voor zijn leeftijd nog bijzonder goed uit. Deze Stratocaster is ook zeer resonant en speelt heerlijk soepel, en is gewoon een fijne vintage gitaar erom vraagt om bespeeld te worden!
The 70s were an interesting period for Fender. After the great success of the 60s, CBS wanted to increase profits by saving on the production process. But that certainly does not mean that guitars from the 70s are not good instruments; on the contrary! This Stratocaster from the mid 70s is living proof that fantastic guitars were still being built in that era!
Stratocasters from the 70s are usually characterized by their large headstock and high weight. However, this example from 1975 is not extremely heavy for a guitar from that era, weighing in at 3.53 kg. The guitar has a natural finished alder body with a maple neck with C-profile. This Stratocaster of course has the characteristic three single coil pickups, and in this case they are the original Grey Bottoms from the 42nd week of 1974. In terms of electronics we also find two original CTS tone potentiometers from 1974, but the volume potentiometer has been replaced.
In terms of hardware, the guitar has its original frets, tremolo and tuners, but the top nut has been replaced. The glossy finish shows some playwear and dings here and there, but the guitar still looks very good for its age. This Stratocaster is also very resonant and plays wonderfully smoothly, and is simply a nice vintage guitar that begs to be played!
Die 70er Jahre waren eine interessante Zeit für Fender. Nach dem großen Erfolg der 60er Jahre wollte CBS seinen Gewinn durch Einsparungen im Produktionsprozess steigern. Das heißt aber keineswegs, dass Gitarren aus den 70ern keine guten Instrumente sind – im Gegenteil! Diese Stratocaster aus Mitte der 70er ist der lebende Beweis dafür, dass damals noch fantastische Gitarren gebaut wurden!
Stratocaster aus den 70ern zeichnen sich üblicherweise durch ihre große Kopfplatte und ihr hohes Gewicht aus. Dieses Exemplar von 1975 ist jedoch mit 3,53 kg für eine Gitarre aus dieser Zeit nicht extrem schwer. Die Gitarre hat einen naturbelassenen Erlenkorpus und einen Ahornhals mit C-Profil. Diese Stratocaster verfügt natürlich über die charakteristischen drei Single-Coil-Tonabnehmer, in diesem Fall die originalen Grey Bottoms aus der 42. Woche des Jahres 1974. Auch die Elektronik ist mit zwei originalen CTS-Tonpotentiometern aus dem Jahr 1974 ausgestattet, wobei das Lautstärkepotentiometer ausgetauscht wurde.
Die Hardware der Gitarre verfügt über die originalen Bünde, das Tremolo und die Mechaniken, der Sattel wurde jedoch ausgetauscht. Das Hochglanzfinish weist hier und da einige Spielspuren und Dellen auf, sieht aber für ihr Alter noch sehr gut aus. Diese Stratocaster ist außerdem sehr resonant und spielt sich wunderbar geschmeidig – eine wunderschöne Vintage-Gitarre, die einfach nur zum Spielen einlädt!
