De 714ce heeft Taylor's populaire en veelzijdige Grand Auditoriumbody vorm en ook een aansprekende nieuwe combinatie aan houtsoorten in plaats van het klassieke palissander/sparren. Het bovenblad is namelijk gemaakt van Lutz sparren in plaats van Sitka. Samen met Taylor's performance bracing en klank-verbeterende lijm kan de speler een stevig en dynamisch geluid verwachten waarin het palissander de klank verrijkt. Ook aan het uiterlijk is gedacht, de kleur van het palissander wordt aangevuld met een prachtige houtrijke trim met Hawaiiaans koa bindingen, een herringonbe stijl rosette van Douglas fir met esdoorn/zwarte accenten, bias-cut Douglas Fir trim op het bovenblad en een weathered brown slagplaat. De gitaar heeft verder een Venetiaanse cutaway en Taylor's ES2 element en preamp.

The inside of the body features the brands innovative V-class bracing, whilst the exterior is wonderfully embellished with koa binding, a rosewood pickguard, herringbone rosette and abalone fretboard and peghead inlays. The only time this instrument doesn't catch the eye, is when it is carefully protected by its luxurious Taylor hardshell case.
