A.J. Lucas Pergola #169
Based in Lincoln, UK, Adrian Lucas has been building guitars for over 30 years. As much as possible he uses reclaimed and local woods without compromising the quality of the instruments.
The Pergola is the smallest of his regular models with standard scale length. The lower bout has a width of 360 mm and is based on a circle with the bridge at its centre. This is a very efficient location to drive the soundboard from and makes for a powerful and punchy guitar.
So the woods all have ancient origins. For instance, the back and sides are made of Honduran mahogany from a piano from the 18th century. The bridge and fingerboard are made of bog oak from around 5300 BC. The reclaimed Honduras mahogany neck is made from an old pool table and has 12 frets to the body.
The sound will surprise you, as will its light weight and versatility. Comes in a Hiscox case with TFOA passport.
