De korte mensuur is eigenlijk een grote factor van dit geluid! Hoewel de korte mensuur van de SG Bass de voorkeur geniet van kleinere spelers, wordt hij ook door velen geprefereerd vanwege de sterke grondtoon waarvoor deze 'short scale' bas bekend staat.
Zoals verwacht heeft de massieve mahoniehouten body diepe contouren en voelt de mahoniehouten hals met Rounded profiel en de palissander toets vertrouwd en comfortabel aan. Een paar gekalibreerde SG-baspickups (neck en bridge) met individuele volume- en hoofdtoonregeling voegen nog meer toonmogelijkheden toe.
