Collings D1AV Varnish Adirondack Spruce Mahogany 2009
The 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar in the world, and while Collings is certainly not the only company in the world to build them, they bring a new clarity, depth, and warmth not usually associated with such a large and deep guitar. While the bass response is ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings dreadnoughts are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who have to compete with inherently louder instruments like banjos and fiddles. While the bass response makes this dreadnought perfect for vocal accompaniment, a Collings dreadnought is guaranteed to satisfy even the most distinguished bluegrass flatpicker.
The Collings D1AV is made with an Adirondack spruce top instead of Sitka spruce, making it a true bluegrass machine. Adirondack spruce has more volume, is more dynamic and clear than Sitka spruce, and projects like a cannon. These pre-war features give the instrument even more headroom across the entire range of the guitar, making it both impressive to look at and experience. The ultra-thin varnish finish allows the guitar to vibrate even better for a more open sound.
This Collings D1AV was built in 2009 and is in excellent condition. The guitar has playwear and dings on the top, along with some dings and light buckle wear on the back of the body. It also features a built-in K&K Trinity pickup and a strap button on the heel, making it fully ready to accompany you on stage for your next gig!
Comes in a hardshell case with a TFOA passport.
